550 Tavern - Halifax

Was first time there. Kinda scopin it out. I drive by there every day for work. The place to sit is out on the deck. Cool spot. Foods good enough for me to plan on a return. Plus we got a good waitress.

I recently went in with my 77 year old mother to grab some food . I walked in with my water bottle because they only serve tap . We dat down no 1 said anything including the waitress about my water , she even asked if I wanted something I said ill keepthis because you only have tap.. she was fine with it 15 mins later food comes out. Now I'm approached by the hostess and Ibelieve maybe a manager and asked to leave because I had the water and they didn't know if it was alcohol...mind you I don'tdrink I'm a body builder. I thought it wad very disrespectful do to the circumstances. The buff dip was trash all cream cheese, and the food was sub par. . I will never go back to this establishment again

Reliable neighborhood American fare. It is on our regular rotation. My only complaint is that the atmosphere for indoor dining is open and loud. It is a big open room with all hard surfaces, no booths only tables. This may be practical for cleaning but allows sound to reflect all over the place. It feels a bit like a cafeteria; you're going to hear every other conversation in the room.

Actually 10's we started off with our waiter Carl! Very nice, checked on our food and our drinks when he saw the mugs getting low! We only stopped in for a first time quick bite but definitely on the top of our list now. My wife had a cup of Broccoli soup was by any other restaurant bowl size and it was excellent, I had Nachos with spicy beef, best Nachos I've ever had, two different cheese used and the toppings were very fresh, the plate was huge and piled high, you could share but might want them all too yourself. The bathroom: first handicapped automatic doors inside and outside, first restaurant I've been to that had these, I'm handicapped makes a big difference! Very clean and well kept, checked often you could tell.,The staff: very nice to all the customers, wiping down the menus and tables, very cleanIf people read this being on vacation like Plymouth etc., definitely worth the ride, menu looked great, can't wait to go back, great specials and breakfast too!

Fantastic meal every time I eat there, super friendly staff, great views and has live music on the weekends!
