Futaba (japanese Food) - Hakone

Absolutely loved the food here! It was our first time in Hakone and most restaurants were turning us away for dinner. However, we stopped by Futaba and were immediately welcomed with open arms! The owners and staff were so friendly, and made it feel like an authentic home cooked meal. I ordered the pork cutlet set (as pictured), which came with a miso soup and pickled vegetables. I also ordered the grilled eggplants. Both items were delicious. I would love to come back one day!

Highly recommend. We came here based on the google reviews and were not disappointed! Small family run place with a traditional Japanese feel. The couple who run the place were patient and understanding of our lack of Japanese. My partner is veggie but eats fish abroad due to lack of options. This place had lots of veggie options and if you ask politely they will cook dishes to your needs. The off-menu agedashi tofu has been mentioned a few times in the reviews so we tried it....SO GOOD! the sauce it came in is probably the best sauce I've ever tasted. Delicious! ごちそうさま If you're in the area you'll regret not giving it a try. Easy to access up and down the mountain from the Ninohirairiguchi bus stop at the top of the hill and the train station (Chokokunomori) at the bottom.

Small traditional Japanese eatery. Despite not speaking Japanese, we were able to enjoy the great service by the elderly lady that speaks pretty good English. English and Chinese menu provided for ease of ordering. One of the few places that open till late at Hakone.

A hidden find near hakone open air museum. Authentic Japanese home cooked food that’s delicious and the owners are very nice and friendly. There’s English menu available and prices are affordable. Really delicious! Would totally come back again :

Highly recommend! Great, authentic homecooked food and lovely people! We had dinner in Tokyo for 4 times the price and this place doesn't need to hide! Great value for money, 4000 yen feeds 2 people easily. Closes early (20.30) and doesn't take reservations so better show up by 19:00. There will be a spot available at some point (3 tables and a counter). Cash only! English menu available!
