Bidrage med feedbackWe ordered two burgers and fries with two gravy cups. One of the burgers arrived warm, while the other was ice cold, almost as if it had just come out of the fridge. When I called the restaurant to discuss this, they surprising tried to blame Skip the Dishes for the cold burger. It doesn't add up—one burger was hot and the other was cold! The fries are typically good, but I was really disappointed by how the restaurant handled my call. As a business, you'd think they would clearly communicate if they believed the problem lay with the delivery service rather than deflecting blame. Because of this experience, I'm now reconsidering whether Five Guys will be my first choice in the future.
The burger and fries were fantastic! It had been a while since we last enjoyed Five Guys, and we had forgotten just how delicious their fast food burgers are. The toppings were fresh, and the fries were served piping hot. It's unfortunate that there aren't more Coca-Cola Freestyle machines in Canada; they're the best option for cold drinks!
We got there shortly after they opened, around 11:40, for an early lunch. The place was empty except for us, meaning any comments about food quality can't be linked to a busy kitchen. We ordered two bacon cheeseburgers, a regular fry to share, and chocolate and strawberry milkshakes. The fries were the highlight of the meal and the only reason I'm giving this review 2 stars. They had a great crunch and were perfectly salted—no complaints there. Sadly, the shakes were underwhelming. The chocolate one had hardly any flavor (a notable decline from our last visit when malted chocolate was an option), and the strawberry shake was overloaded with chunks of strawberry, making it feel more like bubble tea than a milkshake. As for the $12 burgers? They were quite disappointing. We ordered takeout, which might explain some of the issues (though it seems reasonable to expect food to withstand a 10-minute car ride, especially with delivery services like Skip and Uber available). While I drove home, my wife dove into her burger, only to find it a soggy mess. The bun was so wet that it literally spilled out of the foil wrapper and onto our car seat. The cheese was more liquid than solid, making it difficult for her to get through more than three bites before she reluctantly wrapped it up and returned it to the bag. When we got home, my burger was just as soaked, with the bun feeling like hot wax. I ended up pulling a bun from my freezer and toasting it in a desperate attempt to salvage the $50 we spent on lunch. Unfortunately, that didn’t work out; the toppings were so saturated they turned to mush, the patty fell apart when I tried to move it, and the bacon was stuck in the soggy mess. On a positive note, the few bites I managed to save on my toasted bun were decent. It seems like Five Guys’ approach to making burger patties is still effective, even if everything else fell short. This experience serves as a reminder that just because you can own a franchise, doesn’t mean you should. I suspect that since my last visit to the Guelph location, there has been a change in ownership, which has led to a decline in quality and attention to detail.
The food here is consistently enjoyable, but I've observed some changes since new management or ownership took charge. The soda fountain machines frequently appear to be out of various options, and the overall cleanliness of the restaurant seems to have deteriorated.
The fries and shake were amazing, but the burger was just average. I ordered three sauces but only received mustard. It might have been an oversight, but paying $27 for those three items feels excessive. While the burger is okay compared to other fast-food choices, it certainly doesn't warrant a $30 combo price.
