Chalet Il Tenente - GROTTAMMARE

During our ten days vacation in Grottammare, we choosed this place for dinner four or five times. Very kind and helpful staff. Very good sea food and fish dishes. Not expensive at all. And tasty wines.

After a month of insults I am glad to say our stay at this ridiculous place has finished. The staff is beyond rude and should be fired immediately. I have a terrible shelfish allergy and ordered a fillet of fish wish should have deen served with tomato and onion..instead it came with mussels on top. I of course sent it back and asked for the menu item I ordered...I was then told it was my fault and I should have told them I had an allergy even though I ordered plain fish!!! I was later told they do not use sterile techniques in their kitchen and my death woukd have been my own fault for not informing them to do their job or serve the food I ordered!!! Why this place hasny been closed down is beyond my belief. If that wasnt bad enough that I could not eat with my companions, the cashier further insulted us by throwing money in our face for the umbrella we rented telling us we needn't return to it....all that because I didn't want to die!!!! Anyone with allergies or not wanting rude service should avoid this place like the plague!

Our family have been visiting Chalet Il tenente for about six years now. It started with an out of season visit at the begining of April, where we were made welcome by the owner il tenente! who brought us some chairs out to sit on the beach, it was one of our first visits to the area and we knew we had found somewhere special. We revisited in the finer weather and soon juggled with ice creams and local wine whilst lounging on sunbeds whilst the children played in the shallow warm break water. The restaurant itself offers delicious food and a great ambience, great pasta choices and specialises in seafood..Pizza is offered in the evenings.It is also a popular choice for many locals. The service is of a high standard and professionaly overseen by the friendly and vivacious Romina! Romina speaks excellent english and makes great efforts to speak to her guests. As we have been visting for many years now, we are warmly welcomed by all of the family whenever we visit.Our visits now include a five week period through the summer season lucky, I know! . We have a small rustic house in the marche countryside about an hour away and travel to Grottamare every other day for the beach life. Here we spend each day at Il Tenente...so much more than a restaurant It has the most beauiful location, right on the beach. They have sunbed hire, showers, changing rooms, snacks, trendy bar area, cool pine shaded area next to the promenade wher you can sit and watch the 'passeggiata '. When our friends and family visit, they are equally impressed. Grottammare centre is minutes walk away into the lovely square. This truly is our favourite place.
