Sehr gemütlich, hinfort mit dem dunklen Fliesen der 80er Jahre, hell und einladend. Doch von vorne. Wir hatten reserviert und einen schönen Platz in der Sonne direkt an den Fenstern erhalten. Die Dame vom Service nahm unsere Getränke auf nachdem wir eine gute Spanne Zeit bekamen, um die Getränkekarte zu studieren. Nicht wie andernorts, wenn schon der Getränkewunsch abgefragt wird, ohne dass der Gast die Zeit hatte, sich zu informieren, was es denn überhaupt gibt. Diese Unsitte führt dazu, dass der Gast die Standardgetränke ordert und im Preis vergleicht. Liebe Gastronomen, nehmt Euch am Gasthof Steiner ein Beispiel, lasst den Kunden die Chance, auch einen etwas umsatzträchtigeren Wein zu ordern. Oder einen Aperitif. Leider ist es nicht mehr selbstverständlich in unserer Gegend, dass bei einem Rinderbraten auch noch ein Geschmack abseits des Verkochten dabei ist. Hier(! ist das anders, es schmeckt wie Kindheit. Das ist gut 30 Jahre her, da stand Rinderbraten für etwas Besonderes. Die Soße dazu sehr sämig, toller Geschmack nach dem Namensgeber: Meerrettich. Und der Koch hat den Spagat geschafft, die typischen Eigenschaften des Meerch Geschmackes auf den Teller zu bringen, ohne dem Gast die Tränen in die Augen zu treiben. Im Steiner steht ein Könner am Ofen, auch, was die Kartoffelspeise betrifft. Guter Geschmack nach Kartoffel, nicht nach Stärke. Fast buttrig, perfekt gegart, nicht verkocht. Und das Beste am Kloß: das Bröckele. Für nicht Coburger: im Inneren befindet sich ein kurz in Butter angebratenes, würfeliges Stückcken Brot. Eben das Bröckele. Ohne dieses ist ein Coburger Kloß nur ein Blender. Schön auch, dass hier ein dunkles Brot verwendet wird, so ist das Bröckele im Kloß zusätzlich ein Hingucker. 14,10 €, die besser kaum angelegt sein könnten. Die Preiselbeeren sind ein schöner optischer Punkt, klassisch serviert auf einer Scheibe Orange. Braucht man nicht unbedingt, die Preiselbeeren sind aber eine feine Sache, wenn es gilt, scharfe Geschmäcker schnell zu neutralisieren. Hier aber war das nicht nötig. Sauerbraten, eine urfränkische Disziplin. Wenn das Fleisch nichts taugt, kann der beste Koch nicht zurande kommen. Wie oben erwähnt, war auch für den Sauerbraten das Fleisch ein Traum. Weich, reichlich, gut gebeizt, heiß. Fast hätte man damit kuscheln mögen. Die Soße selbst gezogen, keine dieser unsäglichen Fertigpampen, die dem Kunden immer öfter als selbst gemacht untergeschoben wird. Hier braucht sich der Koch dagegen nicht schämen, dass das Essen seine Handschrift hat. Perfekt. Die Klöße waren der gleichen Machart wie meine, daher sind diese ebenso gut angekommen. Das Rotkraut. Nun, gerade hier in diesem Haus, habe ich eines der schrecklichsten gegessen. So viel Nelke daran, dass man es nicht essen konnte, wenn man kein Nelkenfetischist war. Das hat sich geändert, das Rotkraut (Blaukraut ist nun eine fein aufeinander abgestimmte Speise, ein sehr feiner Geschmack nach Gänsefett (damit wird in Franken das Rotkraut kurz angebraten , sehr gut abgeschmeckt. Für mich als Rotkrauffan eine tolle Sache. Wir wollten eigentlich bezahlen, als vom Haus folgender Gruß aus der Küche kam: Eine tolle Schoko Mousse mit frischen Pflaumenspalten links, eine Milchcreme mit Obstsoße und Kap Stachelbeere mittig, sowie ein marinierter, frischer Obstsalat rechts. Ein schöner Abschluss für ein vorher schon mehr als gelungenes Mittagessen. Kurz noch zur Peripherie: Parkplätze finden sich am Haus, am Tag des Besuches ware eine Feier im Saal im ersten Stock, was aber auch hier kein Problem mit dem parken verursachte. Der Zutritt zu Hotel und Restaurant erfolgt barrierefrei. Aber dann... Wer im Rollstuhl kommt oder eine Gehbehinderung aufweist, der tut gut daran, dies bei der Tischreservierung zu äußern. Hier sind im oberen Bereich ein paar Tische, welche genutzt werden können. Allerdings sieht es mit den Toilette schlecht aus. Nein, sie sind nicht verschmutzt oder gar unbrauchbar sie liegt im Keller, sind somit schlecht zu erreichen. Mein Fazit: der Hotel Gasthof Steiner hat sich in rasanter Geschwindigkeit entwickelt. Hier sind im oberen Bereich ein paar Tische, welche genutzt werden können. Allerdings sieht es mit den Toilette schlecht aus. Nein, sie sind nicht verschmutzt oder gar unbrauchbar sie liegt im Keller, sind somit schlecht zu erreichen. Mein Fazit: der Hotel Gasthof Steiner hat sich in rasanter Geschwindigkeit entwickelt.
