Bidrage med feedbackCLOSED. It's disappointing because I was really looking forward to visiting this place. The security guard at the Ford property mentioned that there is some construction happening, but it has been closed for quite some time now. However, tours of the estate are still available.
Additionally, the quality of the food has declined. The chicken pot pie, which used to be delicious with lots of carrots and gravy, was a letdown this time. It consisted of just a bit of chicken, a few potatoes, and hardly any gravy. Frankly, I've had frozen chicken pot pie that tasted better. The perch dinner came cold, and the fish was dry, with the only warm dish being the soup. I don’t know if the restaurant is under new management or if they have a new cook, but we won’t be returning unless we hear that improvements have been made. The location is lovely in our neighborhood (we're lifelong residents of Grosse Pointe), and we will definitely visit the Ford House again, but the restaurant—well, not so much.
I highly recommend not only this café but also the Edsel Eleanor Ford Mansion as a whole. It’s one of the most stunning places I’ve ever visited, easily the most remarkable spot in St. Clair Shores. They host a variety of events throughout the year, and the grounds and architecture are truly unmatched.
I had a terrible experience at this restaurant. The staff was rude and made everyone in my group feel uncomfortable. Their communication with customers was very poor. They also charge an excessive amount for taking pictures. It felt like we were being watched like children by babysitters, as if they were just waiting for us to do something outrageous. The staff was neither accommodating nor friendly. At one point, someone even yelled at one of my friends who was heading to the restroom, telling them to get back on the bus. I left an hour later because the staff's unkindness was too much to handle. I will never recommend this place again.
I attended an event at this venue, and while the view was stunning, the facility itself seemed primarily designed for hosting events. Unfortunately, I didn't get a chance to explore the Ford House itself, as tours required separate payment. As for the food, it was quite disappointing. The passed appetizers included lamb lollipops, which were not tasty, as well as brie cheese in a tart shell and buffalo chicken, both of which were also underwhelming. For the soup, they served tomato bisque that looked more like blobs of stewed tomatoes in a watered-down sauce—it was just terrible. Overall, I was not impressed at all.
