I edited this review, since the owners seem not to like to hear the truth. I stayed in this hotel as arranged by the University of Groningen, for a job interview. The hotel room was very standard and the street is noisy as it is in the center of all the student activities in a student city. In the morning, I got burned and sour coffee and a very basic breakfast. The name 'Corps de Garde ' creates bigger expectations than they can deliver. Checkin was easy but checkout was probably the best for both of us. I did end up getting the job and I communicated my experience to my line manager. I would still recommend the University of Groningen not to use this hotel anymore, now even more that they tried to remove my comment.
Today we had lunch in the Corps de Garde restaurant. We had an Oriental Chicken and Croque Tuna/Ceddar. Just incredibly good. The chicken is very tender, good taste and it looks good. Bread is fresh and the salad next to it is tasty for a change! The Croque was very well balanced in terms of cheese and tuna, with a tasty sauce on the side. The coffee is good and nice served with, pom pom pom, a mini muffin. The service is professional, perhaps trained, and that is very nice. It is a pity that we could not order an extra round of coffee during dinner because we were checking in (or something like that). All in all, highly recommended! Food drinks: Very good!
Geweldig hotel in een eeuwenoud pand in de binnenstad. Prachtig opgeknapt, mooie kamers en erg leuk en vriendelijk personeel. Aanrader! Rooms: 5 Service: 5 Location: 5 Hotel highlights: Great view, Quiet, Great value
Wij hebben hier niet overnacht (we wonen zelf in Groningen), maar wel heerlijk geluncht! Originele lunchkaart met o.a. gestoomde oosterse broodjes en een heerlijke pindasoep. Hip in een oud jasje. Service: 5 Location: 5
