Gasthaus Steckholzer - Gries Am Brenner

My wife and I had lunch here a few times on the january and then we spent a few days on the april. it is a real farm (hof) and it is 700 years old, perfectly rebuilt still with the old wood. this is not...a trendy Nouvelle cuisine restaurant. this is a farm restaurant for real people love real and real food. milk, butter, bark and pork are produced on the farm and they can notice it “in the first bite”. the white carving is so delicate that they can only use their forks. frau martina is the “Angel” of this little corner of the sky on the earth. It is very friendly and always available (she also speaks English and Italian.)

Really high-quality eating, beautiful landscape, friendly family. there is a large slide built in the hills, perfect for children. You really can't ask yourself better.

We found this jewel going around and saw the sign and went to check it. decorate them very warm and relaxing. I had canederli and goulash and my partner sourkraut and speck canederli, both were absolutely delicious and obviously homemade. we went back. a second time and plan to stay there. the owners were very friendly and it shows that they were proud of what they are doing.

To get there is not easy; after the brenner to S.Jodok turn right and still right to the valley of vals and then climb for steep bends until you arrive in a beautiful false plateau, in fact near the brenner, reachable for the paths of course well marked! the local is in a beautiful alpine context and a stop is worth the cordiality, the availability ' of the managers and the good bill for the dishes.
