Bidrage med feedbackGood food, wonderful service. I'm not sure I'd take small children here but for teens and adults who can quietly sit and have a meal, this is a great place I happened upon when I found myself near the Greencastle Square looking for lunch.
This was a great experience suggested by a local. Service was awesome, food was delicious and the atmosphere was quaint. Joe our server took great care of us and made the experience wonderful.
I 've eaten at Almost Home many times and have always been pleased. It has a pleasant ambiance and decent food. Not today. We stopped for lunch at 2:00 pm on a Saturday. There were only two other tables with guests at the time. We were seated by the host, given menus, and then abandoned. When our waitress finally arrived ten minutes later she was rolling her eyes and bored silly that she had to do her job. We had to request water, it was not offered as usual. My husband and I both ordered tenderloin sandwiches with French fries. The fries were tasty, the breaded tenderloin over processed and over done. When time to pay our bill we tried to use a gift card that was refused, told it could only be used at dinner time, not lunch. What?? When asked to speak to the manager our bored waitress replied that she was in charge , end of discussion. We paid our bill with cash and left angry. Our lunch was mediocre, the service terrible, and we couldn 't use our gift card. A disappointing deal all around.
I was very impressed with this lovely restaurant and bar. We were visiting one of the many music fest (read family oriented fun) and decided to get a sandwich to eat while listening to the music. I had the tenderloin with rosemary fries. The sandwich was well-proportioned and the fries were amazing. The cost was $11.00. The desserts were delicious and beautifully prepared. The tables were covered with white tablecloths. The service was friendly. I did not expect this fine dining in this small community. Will visit again!
We came to Almost home/ Swizzle stick bar on the August 3rd first Friday. It was a good 15-20 minutes seated at the bar before we were even noticed, let alone greeted. The bartender, although friendly, was clearly overwhelmed. We ordered a $4 well special and a club soda. The drinks came and the well special tasted like it had one shot of vodka, in a tall glass, with the rest cranberry juice. We asked for our bill after the first round to go explore our other options in town. I got charged $2.68 for a 12 ounce club soda with lime. To my knowledge, this is the only establishment in Greencastle that charges for such a thing as every other place in town offers it for free in my experience. It’s obvious Almost Home is hurting financially, between the short staff on what’s clearly probably the busiest night of the month, coupled with $4 for a watered down beverage worth probably less than $2 to make, and the fact they charge for water. I won’t be back. There’s just far too many better options in Greencastle.
