Lamplighter - Greece

Tasty food, clean atmosphere; good service. Tucked in a strip mall, but close to our hotel. Crab bisque and French onion soup were delicious. Chicken park was huge, but sauce was a little weird.

A serendipitous drive led to our curious discovery of this remarkable hidden gem! Together with our little kids, and extended family, we reserved a table not knowing what to expect. When we arrived and saw the parking lot full, we knew it must be a good sign. Indeed it was! The decor is cute, and retro, family feeling as though it were a nice dining area of a home. The staff are kind and abundantly attentive. They very much show a feeling of comfort in moving about, as tho this is their place. For the children there are good options, but also an openness to customise things from the menu to suit them. The real stars of the show for us, as a family returning to Rochester from Europe, were the local items: Artichoke French and Chicken French. Both are special dishes unique to Rochester, and particularly the district of Rochester Lamplighter is located in. They were delicious and faithfully prepared. We find that soups often show the attention of the kitchen (or lack thereof) and both the French Onion and the Crab Bisque were flavour packed. The tomato sauce on the pasta dishes had a great home cooked Rochester flavour that didn't disappoint. The dessert Ricotta Donuts whose name escapes me now were fantastically tasty Italian migrant fare that must be had, even if fully stuffed. Portions are rather large well suitable for sharing. The signature of many years, many stories, an entire people of this city was evident in the flavours even without a spoken word. This was unique, as typically I will ask of the stories of a place from the staff or the owner here it wasn't needed, here you tasted the story. I encourage you to book a table, come comfortable, park off to the far side so as not to be stressed, meander in, and meet something unexpected.

Absolutely amazing food and drinks! I can't wait to go back to try something else! Everything was so fresh and you can tell the chefs what really took care of what went out of the kitchen! Amanda is an amazingly friendly attentive server and made us feel at home!

Just had a wonderful lunch for a post funeral service. We had originally booked somewhere different, but after dinner in the original restaurant we knew we had made a mistake. I called Lamplighter and they were ready to help us with a last minute change. The food was delicious, the service was excellent and I cannot thank them enough. Thanks Lisa and staff!

Looks like a fun place for old people to celebrate their numbered birthdays. I should take my mother here one day, she'll probably make new old friends. Eating looks good enough to chew their teeth, and the taste will be perfect for their old flavors.
