El Pollon Charbroiled Chicken

El Pollon is simply outstanding. We’ve enjoyed 5 meals at the restaurant and each as maintained sustained excellence. The restaurant is clean and much of the food is made at order. The chicken is absolutely delicious. I can feed my family of 4 for $23 to $38.

El Pollon is a nice spot for Southern Maryland. In the grand scheme of things though, it doesn't stand up to any other peruvian chicken place I've been to before. On a Saturday afternoon, the place seemed pretty empty and the food didn't look super fresh either. We decided to order anyways because we were hungry and had been looking forward to trying this place. We ordered takeout of a 1/2 chicken with plaintains and fried rice, as well as a Lomo Saltado . We asked for just dark meat, but the lady behind the counter said the 1/2 only came with white/dark meat, even though the menu indicates otherwise, but we let it slide. We waited for about 10 mins for our food to be ready. She asked if we wanted the sauces and then we were on our way. The food smelled good and the containers were HEAVY. To say the least, we were excited. The Lomo Saltado was the biggest disappointment. The meat was extremely dry and tough. There wasn't much flavor at all, besides salt, and the fries were cold and stale. The chicken was slightly moist, but didn't have a lot of flavor. Plaintains were good, but greasier than I normally like. The fried rice was seemingly just oily rice that was seasoned with soy sauce with no other add-ins. I would probably get the chicken again in the future to fulfill a roast chicken craving, but not because I think it's really good. This place has some potential, but it just doesn't quite hit the mark.

Support local businesses! During this time I will 100% be going here anytime I want a burrito. The people are nice, the food is fresh and unbelievably tasty. Ask for their green jalapeno sauce it compliments the chicken very well.

First time stopping by and it was pretty busy for a Friday lunch. It sounded like there a bunch of regular returning customers back again for a delish and wonderfully flavored meal. I got the lomo saltinado, which was a tasty treat and a huge serving worth the price. I’ll definitely be back for another yummy meal
