Bidrage med feedbackI regularly stay at the hotel that this restaurant is attached to and every once in a while I forget how bad it is and venture back. Last night I had the displeasure of getting one of the worst steak dinners of my life. The steak dinner was the special for the evening, but was still $25. That isn't a lot for a steak dinner, but it was simply a tough piece of meat, poorly cooked, served on a plate of fries with (I'm not exaggerating) 1/4 cup of cold herb butter on top of the steak. The massive amount of butter was served in two big slices which were sitting there slowly melting. Having never seen this amount of butter served on a steak before, I actually had to take a taste to make sure that is what it was. I wish I had taken a photo to properly demonstrate all that cold butter smothering the steak before I scooped it off. I can't think of another time I've been served something that unappetizing for that much money. In the past, I've had reasonable meals here by sticking to things like chicken wings and salads that are hard to screw up. Just don't order anything that sounds fancy; it will be bad.
Sadly years ago. Barcelona was best place in g.p. I had heard from someone this place had improved. sadly found it not to be true.the wait even in almost empty restaurant is very long. Food is fine but at the price many other places in g.p. are superior.
I've read good things about this restaurant so when I was working in GP towards the end of November I decided to go in for the breakfast buffet. I arrived before 9 AM, the buffet is advertised open until 10. I was surprised to find a very simple buffet: Scrambled eggs in 1 pan,, Bacon & sausage in 1 pan, pancakes & french toast in 1 pan and 2 pans of potatoes (cubed & shredded). This is the kind of hot breakfast I usually find at a small motel that offers free breakfasts and not usually a large restaurant attached to a large hotel.(this should have been my first hint). I sat down with a little of each... it was ghastly!! The eggs were luke warm but that was nothing compared to the hard and dry sausages, pancakes and french toast that a knife couldn't cut!! The food had obviously been out for a while, room temperature but it was the staleness of the pancakes and toast that surprised me. I showed the food to the waitress and showed how hard and dry the food was by attempting to cut it, and I am NOT exaggerating, the knife would NOT cut the french toast!! She quickly apologized and stated she would return with fresh pancakes and french toast made fresh in the kitchen. I tried the shredded hashbrowns while she was away, they were very dry, hard and crunchy, inedible! After a 5 minute wait she brought me the steaming french toast and pancakes; it was only when i attempted to eat the new dish that I discovered it was ALL still frozen inside!!!! I realized then, this full sized family restaurant was serving FROZEN PRE-PACKAGED MICROWAVED BREAKFASTS, Even french toast & Pancakes they couldn't make themselves!!! GROSS!! I showed the waitress and she was at at a loss for words!! I must state at this time the service was good, I had NO issues with the waitress. I have cooked in restaurants myself and found the ONLY reason they put food out like this is a desperate attempt to raise their bottom line and save costs, but the food they served in the buffet was absolutely inedible!! Even what came out of the kitchen was not worth walking in their for! They should be ashamed of themselves!!
This restaurant is attached to the Holiday Inn where I was staying so I ate breakfast there and supper on one occasion. At supper I ordered the ribs which the restaurant advertises as its special for Thursdays. Unfortunately the piece of meat I was presented with was mostly cartilage, not that tender and barely a third of a rack.Breakfast is a little better with a buffet including scrambled eggs and some of the best sausages I have ever had for breakfast. I was a little annoyed about being charged $3 for the orange juice which the server offered me after telling her I was having the buffet.
The restaurant was quiet when we were there so service was fast. Three of us had the same Pork Tender-lion. We all agreed it was cooked very well it was very tasty and tender the best any of us had and that say's much as one of us raised and cooked a lot of pork! The potatoes were great to mixed with yams I believe. Will go back again.
