Bidrage med feedbackI stepped on a rusty nail that was sticking out of the carpeting in the room. Bruised my foot pretty good. Called the front desk and asked for maintence to come fix it, and was told that someone would be up ASAP. Nobody showed up to fix it. Nail was still sticking out of the floor when we checked out 2 days later. There were also red stains all over the carpet in our room. Run down hotel from all the people partying before/after concerts and sporting events at the Alerus Center across the street. Not worth the price they charge. Breakfast was alright though.
I've stayed at this Staybridge 11 times in the last year. It's conveniently located to downtown and across the street from the Alerus Center. I have no real complaints other than the thin walls. I could hear the next door room snoring incredibly loud. They offer a lot of amenities such as dinner, wine and beer in the evening and breakfast. The breakfast was kinda garbage but it was free. Basically some bagels, fruit, oatmeal and odd omelets. They rotate bacon or sausage every other day. The pool area was nice and it remained open until 11. The hottub was actually hot as well. Overall it's not a bad spot to stay the night. They have kitchenettes in the rooms and the beds were comfortable. Plenty of hot water with good shower pressure. Try to get a top floor room though.
My review has five parts: location, parking, appearance, general and bottom line. LOCATION: From highway 29, exit on Demers Ave. heading east to 42nd Street S, then go south a couple blocks and it's on your left. PARKING: There's plenty of parking all around the building. APPEARANCE: Beautiful exterior with nice brickwork. The interior is relaxing. GENERAL: The rooms are comfortable. Includes kitchen necessities; medium-sized refrigerator, stove top, microwave, and the cabinets have plates, bowls and cups. There's also pots, pans and silverware. The bed was plush. I quickly fell asleep each night. I'm sure the hot bedtime showers helped. The water temperature stayed consistent and had adequate pressure. There was also a desk where I did some work from my laptop using their Wi-Fi. A continental breakfast was served each morning. This was one of the best I've had. Sometimes they even provide a complimentary dinner. Next time I'll use their fitness room and spa. BOTTOMLINE: I can see why people stay here long term. I'll be back.
So, I asked friends for reviews on Staybridge Suites in Grand Forks. We stayed there. Room was great! Food was okay! BUT rates were outrageous and NOT what I was quoted....BEWARE!!! We were quoted $129 per night for a Thursday/Friday stay. We ended up cancelling Thursday. I asked if that affected my rate and was told no it doesn 't . We get there and upon check in I noted on my paperwork that the rate is $214 for the night (not including taxes, etc). I told the desk clerk that I was quoted much less $129. She said she couldn 't change it, but signed me up for reward program and saved me $20. I have spoken with management and they won 't budge.....They are saying I was told that Friday would be $214 because that 's whats in the computer, so calling me a liar!! My advice get all rates in writing or don 't stay there!!
The hotel was clean. The bed was one of the worst I've ever slept in. The breakfast was just ok. The eggs were like rubber saucers. Many but not all of the staff were less than pleasant. Our air conditioning was not working and the front desk clerk wanted to argue with my husband who has over 20 years HVAC experience. We were there with a large group and the front desk clerk handed me a credit card that belonged to another person within our group. I was told I could return it to the member. Very unprofessional and inconsiderate of someone's personal financial information. We definitely won't be returning. I am giving 2 stars for cleanliness.
