sense that they include access to all the attractions, including gold panning, old-fashioned candy making, horse-drawn carriage rides, and more. The food options within Sovereign Hill are limited, but there are plenty of restaurants in the nearby town of Ballarat. Overall, Sovereign Hill is a must-visit destination for families looking to experience a taste of Australia's gold rush history.
I enjoyed my experience at this restaurant. I purchased a $39 entry fee through Living Social. I particularly enjoyed the realistic sound of the gun. The boiled lollies and New York tearoom were also highlights for me.
Sovereign Hill is a gem. I have never been to an historical park that has paid so much attention to minute detail. There are shops including an old fashioned bakery, a lolly shop, a haberdasherie, printers, there is an old fashioned bowling alley where you have to set up your own wooden pins, a candlemakers, a coffin makers, a wheelwright, and many more. The place is packed with things to do as well. You can pan for gold in a stream, go underground into a mine shaft, ride on a horse driven stage coach and poke your nose into old tents where the miners used to live. The theatre in the main street has pantomimes performed in the manner of shows from the late 1800s. There is music and soldiers in the streets and many places to eat. There is even a school where you can write with pen and ink. It is a fabulous place to immerse yourself in the rough lifestyle of those seeking their fortune in Ballarat in the late 1800s.
