Bidrage med feedbackLooks as though it changed hands March 2016... and sadly not for the better. Suffice to say the average food was overpriced. The rice was dry, the lemon chicken lacked the zing it used to have, the duck lacked flavor, the Mongolian beef was good... but only because it was more like ginger beef. Overall disappointing given the $$$.
Not overly impressed.. quite expensive for the meal we had. Large 'special fried rice', was nothing special, combination egg noodles were seasoned 2 minute noodles (not that real egg noodles are even expensive!), dims sims were watery but had some flavour at least, lemon chicken was deep fried battered chicken that was dry and hard.. $90 for 2 people. Service was good but wouldn't go back for the food.
Living in the area, we have visited Thuy Linh many times before as it is one of my partner's favourite local eateries. It is a no-frills Chinese / Vietnamese family-run restaurant located at the quieter east-end of Jetty Road. The decor and fit-out inside is typical of any suburban Asian eatery. There is nothing fancy, though, it is always neat, tidy and clean. There's two menus: a Chinese and Vietnamese one - I agree this is strange. However, we normally just stick to the Vietnamese menu, as this is what the restaurant is better known for. The prices are very reasonable - there's no mains above $20. Many of the existing Zomato reviews suggest the food is too westernised. I think, whilst this may be true, it is all still pretty good. On our most recent visit we dined with six people. We shared three entrees and five mains. Steamed dim sims, spring rolls and chicken satay skewers were served first, and were all pretty good. The salt and pepper chicken and... read more
Im not sure if the management has changed, but my partner and I had been regulars for about two years at Thuy Linh and have generally been happy with the food. The service is second to none, but the food portion-to-price-value was something we always thought to be a little expensive for the smaller portions. However, we had enjoyed the food regardless. Our most recent experience however was utterly disappointing. We ordered a few dishes for takeaway and were very surprised when the bill came. Not only was it a lot more expensive than we had expected, but, when we opened the take away containers, we were dismayed by the quantity of food. This is not to say that the taste has gone south at all as the food was still good. However, a main dish of fish came as five small pieces of fish fillet, and, a main hot pot dish was placed in a entree soup container which was not even half full. Sadly, this was the same for the other dishes we ordered too. We were very... read more

The salt and pepper chicken and the Morton bay bugs were the better mains. Other mains, sizzling garlic prawns and five spice pork, were okay. As mentioned by others, the service is always very good. It seems the same one young male and one young female waitstaff are always working, so they certainly know the ropes. If you're fussy about your wines, BYO is the better option, as the wine list could improve. In all, anyone in the area looking for a quieter place to dine with friendly service, reasonable food and good prices should consider Thuy Linh.
