Reserver

Bidrage med feedbackDon’t go there hungry, prepare to wait.Decided to try this place based on the good reviews. Walked in, was told to sit where we liked. Place was small and tables were too close for comfort. Spanish novelas playing loudly on both TVs. That’s always a sign of a truly local restaurant frequented by hispanics which I don’t mind if I’m dining and dashing but sometimes you just want to eat in peace. It wasn’t busy when we walked in early afternoon and even though it took the server more than a few minutes to take our order, we figured we’d have our food out soon. Mind you, there were only 2 of us and we only ordered 2 pozole blancos. You’d think a place named after that dish would have no problem having it on hand, ready for their customers. Well think again. It took a good 20-25 minutes to get it and at no time during that time were we offered any info or refills of our drinks. We were seriously wrapping up to go somewhere else when the woman appears finally with our 2 bowls of soup. No explanation, no thank you for waiting, no smile, no nothing.Let me just say it was most definitely not worth the wait. Bland, tasteless and the broth had an unappetizing murky look to it that had to be doctored to no end with the limes, cabbage, onion, radish and cilantro to mask the awful taste of it. They literally just boiled the pork and served it like that, no, no and no. The chicharron on the side was a joke. Instead of the savory “authentic” one we’re used to, they use the small pre-packaged stuff that has no taste. The drink was another thing that needs improvement, the agua de piña. Watered down and sugary and obviously not made with fresh pineapple. We weren’t the only ones waiting around either. After we came in, a few families came in and the noise level increased on top of the already loud soaps playing. Good lord, we’ve never finished a meal so fast and be so happy to get out. In case you’re wondering we are Mexican and have been eating pozole all our lives at different places so we know a good one when we taste it.We gave this a go but for us this one is a thumbs down for service, atmosphere and most of all, for the very dish they so proudly call themselves after.
The pozole was really good this real authentic Mexican food.
Mucho grande portions of great food. Small inside, but comfortable space while waiting for food. Be prepared to spend more than 1 hour inside. Everything is made fresh. A family restaurant. No prices on menu so don't know how much I paid but $43 for pozele, tostadas, quesadillas and guacamole.
Best pozole around, I've been searching all over Chicago for my grandma's mexican style dish and I finally found it! Not only was the pozole amazing but the tacos, tamales, and everything else I tried was delicious. It has that homestyle taste that is hard to duplicate and it's not super spicy so you can enjoy it without burning your mouth. I highly recommend this establishment, you won't be disappointed with anything on the menu, trust me I'm a very harsh critic.
The restaurant was decent and peaceful, but if you are truly hungry or seeking amazing flavors, this is not the place for you. When I arrived, the restaurant was empty and appeared to be struggling to keep up with its small size. It took 3-5 minutes to receive menus, and I was immediately asked for my drink order before I had a chance to look at the menu. The chips and salsa, along with a small bowl of black beans, were served, but even they seemed lacking in quality. The food was just okay, not particularly impressive. The only decent thing served was the water, which tasted fine. The server was friendly, but did not make much effort to check on us after taking our order and paying the bill. I had wanted to try out the nearby Amigas restaurant, but was told that it was owned by the same person. I'm not sure if that's true, but I wasn't interested in finding out.
