Bidrage med feedbackWe were going to see a show recently just off High Street in Prahran when we stumbled across Queen of the South. What a find, a real treat! Firstly and most importantly, the food is delicious! For starters we shared the lamb cutlets (accompanied by a stunning salsa). For the mains, we shared the Pueblan style chicken which was also fabulous! Very tasty dishes indeed. Our waiter was terrific in that he made recommendations that were spot on (even telling us that we initially over-ordered, given the size of their mains). We adjusted accordingly, and the quantities ended up perfect. And thank you, Queen of the South, for playing background music at a manageable level so that patrons can have comfortable conversations. Much appreciated! There is so much to love about this establishment. What a shame we don’t live in Melbourne so can’t visit more often. Highly recommend.
Visited over the weekend with large group of friends. First, the menu was confusing and after a long week at work, the last think I could be bothered doing was asking about each dish. Second, ordered the dinner and staff asked if we wanted to have more wraps for the chicken (and the amount of food ordered from the group); we were charged $5 for another 4 small wraps to finish off the chicken dish. An extra $10 with out knowing. We ordered the chicken and lamb and few other things and all girls felt physically ill after the meal. The food did not sit right. I was concerned the chicken was under cooked therefore left most of it in the bowl. Wouldn't recommended.
Went for dinner on Friday, really good and quick service. The environment is good, not too loud, you can have a pretty decent volume conversation. We were expecting mexican food, it is not as any other mex restaurant, the food is not traditional, I mean you won't find burritos, quesadillas, enchiladas.... however the food is excellent and is Mex inspired, so still you get the good flavors just in a different presentation. Something that I LOVED is that they have VEGAN options, we tried the "sonrisas de invierno" and it was to die for. They also have very good portions, the large plates are really large, is was enough for three plus 2 entrees. Will be back!
A friend and I decided to try this restaurant as we have both driven past but never eaten there. We walked in to a lovely surprise at the great decor and friendly staff. However our excitement quickly ended when we tried the entree we selected which was cauliflower puree with corn chips. It was like dipping corn chips into luke warm cauliflower soup - not very pleasant. The mushroom tostadas were inedible by either of us due to the mushrooms being uncooked, cold and having a really dry bland taste. The staff were kind enough to take this off the bill.We also had the main chicken dish which was ok but also nothing exciting and only came with 4 flat breads which was not enough due to the amount of chicken left over. The highlight of our meal was the roast duck mini burger which was lovely and had some flavor to it. Unfortunately due to our experience we probably wont be back Our main concern was the menu being very limited and the dryness and bland flavors of the dishes we tried. We would have loved to see some lively fresh punchy flavors.
Excellent service!! Cannot say enough about the staff. Very friendly, helpful and accommodating. One of the bar staff ended up chatting with me for ten minutes at least and providing advice on the menu items which turned out to be very accurate. The food in itself is excellent value for money!! The large portion sizes didn't compromise the level oF creativity in the dishes. The lamb cutlets were to die for. The cauliflower starter was great! Would not hesitate to go back again.
