Mozambik Hillcrest - Gillitts

Excellent service, friendly and family atmosphere. Extremely relaxing and excellent food from starters to dessert. A definite experience to add to your dining out catalogue.

I've always received exceptional service from friendly staff, tantalizing meals which are freshly prepared and traditional ambience. The decor and music takes me back to my memories at the barakas, having pre party drinks! Today was the same as my other visits to Mozambik, extremely satisfying! We shared our starter a mouth watering grilled calamari in lemon garlic butter sauce. The calamari was cooked perfectly and the garlic used in the sauce was really fresh (fresh garlic shouldn't be a highlight but I've eaten at so many places and was unable to truly enjoy my meal, due to the stale flavor of the garlic that really ruins a dish) this was accompanied by a fresh roll crispy on the outside, soft and warm on the inside! For mains, I opted for the 1/4 Peri Peri Chicken thigh (they did give me the breast instead of the thigh, wasn't as juicy as it usually is but I couldn't bare the longer wait to get the correct piece so I had the breast piece) with 4 Peri Peri Prawns, rice and chips. The Peri Peri flavour was sensational, just the breast piece is really dry they did offer extra sauce. My friend had the Grilled Hake in Peri Peri Sauce, with rice and chips. The hake was cooked perfectly as well, he had a milder Peri Peri that was just as delicious. For drinks, I had a cocktail that was yummy. My friend decided on a refreshing frozen minty cocktail. Id say the service was great, food was delicious as always and the atmosphere was welcoming.

Same Good food but still prefer the Ballito Mozambique atmosphere. The Boschendal Blanc de Blanc was definitely a good choice which cut through the richness of the creamy sauces and strong Thai balsamic tasting pork special. Service staff to scratch

Good food, friendly staff, nice decor. Decor and general atmosphere certainly reminded me of Ponta do Ouro and the 2M beer just capped it off :

Good enough place. The menu is a tad bit expensive and yet the food is not inventive or unique. But I do enjoy the food. Maybe they do need to decrease the price and bring bring something unique!
