Chocolaterie Vandenbouhede - Ghent

The owners of this shop had a bakery in the vicinity of the railway station. they are really passionate about their crafts I recommend going down and chatting with the chocolatiers) and doing everything by hand. their sortiment changes periodically and they always experiment, try beautiful chocolates with surprising flavors like lavender, oldest (both made with flowers from their own garden they plan to expand their vegan options, so keep their eyes peeled. cannot recommend it enough!

They have about 30 different chocolates but only 5 are vegan. They’re good.

When we visited there were probably about five different vegan options and we got a little pack. The very friendly sales person told us which were vegan. The chocolates were as delicious as you might expect.

Update: pased by a year later, and noticed a label 'vegan ' with some chocolates in the shop window. They now have a handful of vegan chocolates available! Improvement We bought two boxes. Not just ordinary chocolates. Really original. ‐ I was looking forward to visiting this shop as it popped up on Happy Cow. It 's a beautiful shop, the chocolates look great, and the people in the shop were very friendly. But there are only two chocolates (pralines) that are vegan. And one vegan bar (pure dark chocolate with dried fruits). So hardly any vegan options. Bummer. Updated from previous review on 2021 10 11
