Bidrage med feedbackGood food, even better service. loved eating and the attentiveness of the server. would recommend this place and will be personally back to taste the rest of their food. I'm a fan of this place.
One of the best nyonya food i come across in Penang. Even though I rarely go back but I find this is decently good. Some of the dishes might be on the higher price tag but I felt with the quality ingredients they put in, I am willing to pay. My parents were totally happy over this dinner and the eat everything clean and now bugging me to bring them back again with my brother. Will certainly be back. both owner are very friendly. Keep it up. REcommending: 1. Tau Yew bak 2. Asam Gulai (depends what fish you like to put in) me of course stingray 3. Nasi Ulam Optional : Otak Otak PS: parking spot in Penang is always troublesome. SO i choose to go early dinenr for this to avoiid jam pack up limited parking spots. However next to them there is a huge parking space to be paid RM 2 4 per entry if I remember correctly taufulou.com
This was my third visit to Winn’s Cafe but the first time with a group large enough (8 persons) such that we could order a proper variety of dishes. My previous 2 visits were in small groups of 3 4 persons. As before, the food did not disappoint. Everything was delicious and addictive. You simply couldn’t stop at one helping. Our only limitation was stomach capacity. Everyone kept raving about how good the food was. We ordered across the menu (I forgot to take photos of some dishes and the dessert because too eager to eat) mainly their specialties and other favourites. The highlights were pig trotters in vinegar (it was the perfect balance of sweetness and sourness every drop of the gravy was eaten up), inchi kabin (deep fried chicken marinated in spices), nasi ulam (flavoured rice with fresh herbs), prawns in tamarind sauce (not for the budget conscious but for this size of prawn, not expensive), kerabu (four angle bean salad), duck braised with taro (didn’t know what to expect but was not disappointed) and the desserts (bubur pulut hitam and sago gula Melaka). The desserts come in small portions so even though we were full, we found room in our stomachs. The desserts were totally worth overeating and suffering for later. Everything we were served was of high quality and had well balanced flavours. Having eaten at many many nyonya restaurants over the years, I would rate Winn’s Cafe the best nyonya restaurant I have ever had the privilege of dining at. For our group of 8 persons, we ordered 12 dishes (yes, we were hungry), 8 portions of dessert (they are small but so good) and a few beers. We also brought a couple of bottles of wine, which they waived corkage for. Our bill came up to just over RM500 which everyone thought was incredibly reasonable for the quality of food we got. This is now on everyone’s must eat place when we visit Penang again. Tldr:
The food here is authentic and the owners are very warm and sincere. They do not cut corners. The desert alone (bubur pulut hitam) blew me away. The nasi ulam was amazing you cannot it anywhere else. The otah was delicious. I highly recommend this restaurant. Just note that they have just shifted to a new location at 38 Jalan Cantonment. When we booked our Grab, it sent us to the old location.
First time at their wonderful new place. As usual enjoyed the delicious food. Good idea to order on the set as able to try more dishes. Though some dishes are not available under the set order.
