Le Castellane - Gennes-Val de Loire

What a great location overlooking the Loire . I think some may find the decor a little OTT but we loved it with its Napoleon and Josephine theme. The menu had 2 set offers and we chose escargot, pan fried fish and chocolate dessert. All to a high standard as you would expect Good choice

We went for a family lunch this summer, and despite the gaudy interior we were astounded by the exuberance of flavours in every dish. A maximum of creativity, on the plate and in the mouth, beginning with two different mise en bouche plates that had us talking about every detail, and this continued and in the fact rose to and including the desserts (rare for is as we usually don't take dessert . This chef deserves to be better known as each dish was perfectly balanced in taste and texture. A down side, sadly, is the mediocre and disappointing wine list, uninspiring and made up largely of overpriced grocery store mega wines (Ackermann??? Come on! But I would go again, with joy.

It was very quite during our stay but we had good service and very nice 3 course meal. The main waiter was really helpful I asked to be recommended a local red wine and he suggested a reasonably priced, great wine. He also served us some local Saumur pre dinner which was superb!

Une vue panoramique magnifique, un accueil en deux temps.... un temps pour apprécié la vue avec un verre dans salon ou en terrasse, puis un temps en salle avec toujours cette vue... quant au menu.... jamais déçu.... vivement la prochaine fois....
