Country House Restaurant - Geneva

Greeted quickly and placed our order. Both of us got the Top Drawer Burger at the recommendation of our server. Salads arrive and there is a musty rancid taste in the salad which we determined was coming from huge chunks of purple cabbage. The burgers arrive and there is nothing appealing in the look ok the platter. Set the dripping pickle, lettuce and pale pink tomatoes on to the uneaten salads and took a bite of the lifeless burger. The meat was great but the top of the bun was hard as as cardboard and the bottom was soaked from the juice/water from the previously removed toppings. One bite was enough for me and the remaining burger sat on the plate. When our server finally returned he didn't even ask how dinner was. This experience was costly for $50.. of uneaten food!! I must say that we were regulars between the locations and this was the first burger ordered. Get the filet and a baked potato...it's fabulous! This location needs a serious foodie checking the freshness and and taste of items leaving the kitchen to restore their reputation for a great meal and excellent service!! Service date 7.25.23

Great burgers. Not a place to go if you have peanut allergies, as the bar has them on every table. Have been going here or other locations for decades and it has always been a high quality meal.

This was my first visit to this location. Have been to the Clarendon Hills location on numerous occasions. Although the building is much larger than that location, the bar area is almost an exact replica. Very old-school comfortable/homey. Had the French Dip sandwich, which was very good, although the Au Jus was a touch salty for my taste. A nice variety of selections on the menu for groups of people who are in the mood for different things.

The service was quick, we were seated right away but weren't offered a high chair. Drinks came in within 10 min or less of ordering, appetizers kids meals came with in 20- 25 min. The appetizer was very small I was expecting more. It was good but I was expecting more there was like 6 onions rings a few cheese courds and I potato cut in 4 with cheese and bacon in it. Moving forward my daughter needed to use the washroom and it was not the cleanest paper every where. It just needs to be re vamped I wanted to run ‍ out... moving forward for some reason they kept switching waitresses.. so when our food finally arrived my drink was low and never got a refill on the other hand my husband and daughter did. The food looked okay but immediately notice my burger was dry.. mayo would of help out tremendously but none was added. The steak fries were good. My husband ordered a steak sandwich never did i imagine what was brought to him.. Anyway the food was a combination of okay and dry, expecting more and ill survive. Both daughters liked there burgers and my husband said the steak sandwich was good. Over all for me its okay.

Service was good and the food was delicious. It was a little dark inside than I would have liked but it's part of the country theme I suppose.
