Bidrage med feedbackA long travel day was punctuated when we crossed paths here. I was pleased immediately by the local vybe and white board menus. Three of us on our trek to the Avenue of Giants wound up in Garberville later than expected We walked by a few places already closed at 8PM. Stopping at the Calico Cafe was nearly the last option. Overlooking the countertop ordering we concentrated on the specialties- Italian and Mexican. Pasta Bolongese, pad Thai and Taco Salad were great
The food was excellent!! The service was good, the hours on yelp were wrong so we didn't get the full menu, which sucked. But what we had was really good
Insanely awful food here. How do you screw up pasta? I ordered the Spaghetti Bolognese on the recommendation of the server. The spaghetti was precooked, frozen for 6 months (at least) and then added to hot water. The sauce was suppose to be Bolognese, which is traditionally a very basic tomato base sauce with ground beef. Easy enough to make, in a matter of minutes. Unfortunately, whatever sauce they put on the very strangely textured spaghetti had some unidentifiable ingredients that may have been turtle meat? otter meat? who the heck knows. I was wondering if there were mushrooms, or onion, or carrots in the sauce. You really couldn't discern what the ingredients actually were. Possibly ketchup and whatever they could throw in the mix. They top it off with old dusty Parmesan cheese to throw you off the scent. After taking one bite and realizing that the entire dish was sitting in a half inch of water I just left. Insanely awful disgusting food. I was worried for a few days that I ingested something nefarious possibly moldy sauce left in the fridge for a few months. I mean, really, what is that this place is serving? Of course, because of the transient population in this village of idiots, you're required to pay first. This supposed dinner cost me about $25 with tip and soda. I decided to get the heck out of this town as quick as I could. I will never again stop in this town for any reason whatsoever. None! Whatever you do, avoid this place if you happen to be stuck in Garberville. GROSS GROSS GROSS!!!
Great Mexican food! We will miss the In Garberville. Best wishes for you in your new location!
Fast friendly service. Not much open on a Saturday night. Beer on tap. Avocado sandwich on sourdough was fresh. Nice Mexican food choices. Light and refreshing margaritas.
