Bidrage med feedbackThe El Caracol Cafe is somewhere that I have been eying for some time now. What is particularly unusual about this place is that it is in the same strip mall as another Mexican restaurant; indeed, only 2 businesses are between them ! In spite of this, neither business is out of business yet.<br/ <br/ This may be because El Caracol is more of a Central American restaurant than a Mexican one; the fare includes pupusas and other Central American favorites.<br/ <br/ The restaurant beyond the doors is almost painfully cramped. The menu is quite surprisingly large for such a small place. I don’t know how they do the rice... but it may well be the best rice I have ever had. These guys know how to cook! I highly recommend them, although the wait time is a little long.
Absolutely fantastic. Mexican, El Salvadoran food with drinks from Central America. Ask the owner, and she'll be happy to share a bit of El Salvadoran history!
Unpretentious eatery on Victoria Drive with an extensive menu and fantastic food. Service is slow but well worth the wait. Be prepared for large portions.
It was another one of those late nights where the busyness of wedding season crept in and I forgot to eat dinner (happens a lot, I know, it’s horrible). Greta and I had made a trip down to Point Roberts to pick up some crafting materials that we had shipped to the states and I told her I was starving and had a hankering for tacos (this also happens a lot).
We were in the area and wanted Mexican food so we stopped at El Caracol Cafe for a quick bite. We ordered the chicken tamales to start, the salmon tacos and a beef burrito for our mains. The tamales were excellent! We will come back just for those. Wow. The tacos were average, the salmon was actually quite dry. The burrito was amazing, big portion and it comes with rice and beans. We also ordered the horchata to drink, it was too sweet for our liking. Tip: If you love hot sauces, El Caracol makes their own homemade chilli and it is actually spicy but super delicious!<br/ <br/ Service is slow but you can't beat the prices $3 for tamales and $9 for the burrito plate), and the quality of food is great. We will be back and we would definitely recommend El Caracol if you're looking for good authentic Mexican cuisine.
