Great food lovely service pleasant location. We visited for a quick lunch, anchovies, sardines, prawn pil pil and tomato salad all excellent.
Lovely authentically cooked seafood. Stopped cos I saw the clams on someone’s plate and they lived up to it. Service a bit haphazard and slow but maybe cos they cook it all fresh
This restaurant was recommended by a friend during a recent trip to Mijas, on the basis that it isn’t your usual tourist trap and suits people wanting to try authentic Spanish cuisine. The first thing I noted on arrival was the friendly welcome from the young lady who sat us at our table in the sunshine, at this family run eatery. For the record, her friendly demeanour did not diminish at all, despite the fact she was run off her feet. After a quick order of beers, we set about choosing our various dishes. The choice was more than sufficient to meet all of our needs and we opted for two sharing dishes of patatas bravas and tomato salad. We all opted to have grilled squid (see additional note below) and one other dish each, mine being the anchovies with lemon. As is typical in any true Spanish restaurant, the food came when it was ready, rather than all together, which is perfect if you are looking for a chilled lunch like we were. It is worth noting that the portion sizes are not what you would expect in a tapas bar in the UK or in a Spanish tourist trap they are significant, which is a good thing, but be careful of ordering too much. The patatas bravas was the perfect sharing dish, while the tomato salad was fresh and tasty so much so, we ordered two the following day. The grilled squid was simply exquisite. Normally, that would be enough said, but I noted that a previous reviewer said that had not been cleaned. The fact is, these were baby squid and cleaning is not possible, so like eating chicken on the bone, you simply had to remove the clear quill and the rest was for enjoying! The anchovies with lemon were served fried with aioli and perfectly matched the grilled squid. We were so impressed on our first visit that, as I mentioned above, we went back the following day. Again, we all absolutely loved it. I can not recommend this family run restaurant enough, so if you are looking for a real taste of Spain just a stones throw away for the regular tourist traps, Everest and the wonderful family who run it, will not disappoint.
Food was delicious and the calamares a la plancha (grilled squid) was the best we’ve had in Fuengirola (but they’re not cleaned on the inside though)! The portions however are a little small but the food is great. We loved that for the dishes a bottle of an aioli and a spicy sauce was put on the table. Perfect match for the patatas bravas and the calamares fritos.
