Lovely place, with no-nonsense but 100% competent service. Extremely busy but fine if you show up before 6.30 pm, after which it fills up very rapidly. You can sit inside or outside by the water. We went here twice during a one-week stay and loved the traditional German food. Extremely good value for money as well. Highly recommended!

Sat outside by the canal. It's not far from the main Munsterplatz but not so busy; we got a table without booking but it still looked like a lot of people used the place. Staff very friendly and accommodating. Good meals; I had a lovely Black Forest trout.

Outdoor dining in a quaint corner of Freiburg, under the trees and next to a stream with a stone alligator. Friendly service, great Schweinehaxe and Flammkuchen.

Stumbled across this restaurant on a Saturday walk - six adults and two kids, so we pulled a couple tables together. Drinks service was quick and efficient, and food was all good. So often these days Flammkuchen seems to come on pre-made crusts, so it was nice to have this one homemade. The Trout Müllerin Art was perfectly done, the Ochsenbrust with Meerretichsauce as well. Three kinds of potatoes and potato salad were passed around the table so everyone could try them. Prices reasonable for location.
