Here for 1 night on the way back from a week in southern France to calais to catch the tunnel. the hotel is very simple, but clean, the staff is very helpful. my only grip was the shortage/distance of the staff at night...time we arrived only after 18 o'clock because our long 8 hours drive avoids the floods! since the restaurant was not open on Saturday night (although it was on the booking.com website it was closed only for lunch) we went for something eating to a beautiful pizza / pizzeria place recommended by the herrn at the reception, which was beautiful, thank you! when we returned at 9.20 clock, the hotel / reception was closed so that we used our card keys to enter. that was good, but we had 2 adjoining rooms, as we were a family of 4. my youngest daughter has accidentally closed the adjacent door that, when we tried to open, she would not open if they needed a key (not a card key). I went to the reception to find someone who unlocks the door, but there was no one. there was also another gentleman who wanted to talk to someone in the hotel in the reception, but was not in the position. on the back of the doors in the rooms it means that the reception is open up to 11 o'clock to choose 9 to talk to someone. I went back to the reception at a series of locations to find someone but not to any incident. I chose 9 on the internal phone several times, but no one just answered it out. if there was a real emergency, not sure who we had contacted by the police, we felt like the hotel had been left!
OMG get the LEMON COOKIE! The rest IMO isn't really anything special or work the time. Sandwiches are basic. The soup was good. The bread bowl was dry :(
Always good food and service! Great cookies! Excellent hot soups my favorite is cheesy broccoli! Has drive through or quaint dinning area.
Stopped here for 1 night on our way back from spending a week in southern France to Calais to catch the tunnel. The hotel is very basic but clean, staff are very helpful & friendly. My only gripe was the lack/absence of staff at night time. We did not arrive until just after 6pm due to our long 8hr drive & avoiding the floods! As the restaurant was not open on the Saturday night (although it does say on the booking.com website it only closes for lunch) we went out for some food to a lovely pizza/pasta place recommended by the gentleman on reception, which was lovely, thank you!! When we returned at about 9.20pm the hotel /reception was shut up so we used our card key to gain entry. That was fine however we had 2 adjoining rooms as we were a family of 4. My youngest daughter accidentally closed the adjoining door which when we tried to open it wouldn't open as you needed a key (not a card key). I went out to reception to find someone to get the door unlocked but there was no-one about. There was also another gentleman staying at the hotel wanting to speak to someone in Reception but being unable to. On the back of the doors in the rooms it states that Reception is open til 11pm & after that to dial 9 to speak to someone. I went back out to reception on a number of occasions to find someone but to no avail. I dialled 9 on the internal phone numerous times but no-one answered it just rang out. If there was a real emergency not sure who we would've contacted apart from the police, we did feel as though the hotel had been abandoned!
