El Sombrero Franklin

We go to The Hat weekly and enjoy the food as well as convenient location. As with most restaurants, there is some turnover with wait staff. They need training on attentiveness and the difference in the dining experience between being in Mexico the States. They should check-in more frequently as service is more than just taking an order and delivering the food. By the time I finally have to wave them down, my view of the dining experience has diminished.

My coworkers took me here and presented it as a solid normal Mexican restaurant in the US. Can confirm! Normal Mexican restaurant (in Middle TN). Not amazing, not bad, just exactly what you expect it to be. No frills. Our server was kind of rude and one of our friends didn't get what she ordered the first time, but it was corrected. The server wasn't over the top rude, but he definitely seemed to be over being there. My chilaquiles was a solid dish. I didn't mean to, but I ate the whole thing. The guac cesaro we got was also good. The salsa was okay. All in all, I liked it and would return. Service was pretty quick even though my friend got the wrong thing at first. She wasn't a huge fan of what she got, but we also chalked a bit of that up to them rushing to make it because it was wrong the first time. Give them a shot if you need this experience. I know sometimes it's exactly what I need.

Manager is very defensive. Left most of the order off of my door dash order. Said the dasher should know what was on my order, but they are they ones that package it up. Dasher shouldn’t go through my back and check my food. Said it’s not his problem.

We have dined at El Sombrero for almost 10 years. Enjoyed the food. Loved the El Presidenta Margaritas. Tasted good with enough Tequila to know it was an alcohol drink. After the pandemic closure, El Sombrero opened their dining. Since then my food order is never correct. And the El Margaritas are watery and lack a hint of tequila. Really miss the good Ole days.

Stopped here on a whim because we were craving tacos and tequilas. Saw the guacamole casera and had to have it. BEST DECISION. Texas margaritas were awesome. The margarona too. Cheese dip with ground beef. Chicken fajitas also good. Everything was fresh. Definitely recommend.
