Bidrage med feedbackCan't say this early enough, GET RESERVATIONS! The restaurant is fairly tiny and cozy, so there's not so many seats. We were 4 and reserved a table upstairs (only 5 tables upstairs). The atmosphere is very relaxing and good for couples or small group of friends (soft lighting, white walls, good decor). The service was pretty good, except they did forget to provide us with an item we ordered. Nonetheless, they were friendly and apologetic. The food was delicious and the natural highlight. Had the Schnitzel (Normal) and side mushroom sauce, was delicious BUT be warned that this is a massive portion and would suggest going with the small Schnitzel. Another tip is to end with a nice Haselnut Schnapps, BUT ask for the "old" one (they have two kinds). The old one is smoother and has a richer taste. All in all, would definitely go back. They also have a patio but it was too cold to sit outside. Would be a nice place in the summer to try again.
A very pleasant surprise one finds here with perfect German foods, modernly interpreted and served by a swift service and the owning family behind and involved. Nice outside patio available.
With a whole gang of children and a couple of adults we entered this off-the-mainroad German restaurant in the outskirts of central Frankfurt. The weather allowed for us to stay in the outside patio where our table was already prepared upon the reservation we had made.Usually most of the German restaurants in Frankfurt cater more or less similar dishes: Schnitzel (pork), Frankfurter Green Sauce dishes and so on. The menu here is different. Not one pork Schnitzel on it (and I personally would have loved to have one after two weeks in Israel), but one of the best veal Schnitzel (Original Wiener Schnitzel) I have ever had in this city and many other choices not so commonly seen around here. Notable and pretty creative: German tapas with small tapas style & size "German Classics" (we have to try these the next time). The food without exception was perfect, fresh, well prepared, right temperature - bring an empty stomach, though, the portions are huge. Price level is fine. The service under the umbrella of the patron's wife was flawless, very personal and well educated & proficient. The outside patio was quite full and in my opinion the only two persons in service were a little overloaded. We had to wait quite some time (but in a nice environment), and with kids this is always a little tricky (especially hungry ones). The wine list is very decently priced and has a couple of good gems on it. I personally chose red: "Alles Verloren" from South Africa, where I know the owners and haven't drunk it for quite some time.Overall a very pleasant experience and we will be back, doing more research and having more of the good stuff.
We had a big family meal (8 adults, 6 children) on Sunday - the food was fantastic, classic German (wurst, schnitzel etc) - although they also do burgers and other bits if Frankfurt fodder is too much. This is a real locals restaurant - another table downstairs was singing loudly (but quite tunefully) when we left. They also had lost their english menus so if your german is very bad you might struggle here. They were happy to deal with us despite many changes of order, small children being annoying & wanting to get down a lot etc.Would recommend this to anyone, but particularly if you are travelling through Frankfurt and want to experience a bit of old-school food, done to a very high standard.
Had supper there in September 2014. Small restaurant mostly frequented by German people. Staff was very friendly, brought menu in English when they saw we were struggling with the menu in German and advised us! Very good and reasonably priced food. The only drawback is that they do not accept payment by card, so you need to have euros to pay the bill
