Bidrage med feedbackSchönemann Restaurant is located in the Sofitel Hotel: I was impressed with the decòr, the view of the Opera building, the service from the waiter and of course the quality of the food. I highly recommend the tuna tartare: first class
...yet first class operation. Arrived there with my mom to celebrate her birthday of 88. And the young yet first class staff did everything to make her evening utmost pleasant. And so was food and wine. As it s close to the Frankfurt Opera: Brava!
Placed in the Sofitel, the Schoenemann has a great location by the Old Opera house. The ambience is not bad either, modern and elegant. The furniture is not overly comfy, as the tables are small art rather reminiscent ofd tea tables, with rather low seats...but ok...sometimes you need to sacrifice comfort in favour of aesthetics...; But then the service...it has already been mentioned that the nice looking young people (at least very well dressed run around like chicken...and I can confirm that. Yes, they were nice and tried...but you could see clearly they were not really experienced. And the food the quinoa risotto was...dark quinoa. Not bad, but just cooked dark quinoa with parmesan...so not really a culinary art experience...My hope, dessert...was equally disappointed: it was supposed to be Strawberry Cheesecake with gelato...but it was gelato with some cheesecake cubes again, not bad in taste, but nothing that reminded me of anything made fresh or even in house...it was not even arranged in a visually appealing way...The other main dish Wiener Schnitzel, was ok in taste and not bad in size, but the accompanying potato salad was something for a little baby...just minuscule! To add insult to injury...the price 75 Euro for a business lunch (total 2 mains, 1 dessert, 1 cafe and water... . A pity, a real pity...this was my private test for a bigger company event, but I will look for something else...and also, I don 't think I will be back...
I felt lazy as everywhere was busy so ate in the hotel restaurant. Nice touch to open the doors so you get fresh air and view to the opera house. Service to begin with form theatres was very good although she was very apologetic she forgot my bread but no matter. Good wine and a small nice steak but veg and mash was a bit odd. Came all together in a pot with veg on the mash so at first you could see it and then hard to get it out as every piece of veg came out with mashed potato coating. At that point the service diminished and I seemed to become invisible for a hike waiting for my table to cleared by a waiter as the waitress had moved outside. Quirky dessert of rhubarb and raspberries was ok Also quite a limited menu. Good not great especially when considering the standard of the hotel itself
I had dinner in the Schoenemann restaurant in early May 2017, whilst staying in the Sofitel. The menu is not large but the quality of the food served up by the chef Lukas Sulik is truly exceptional. I had the best chicken dish I have eaten anywhere in the world, it was cooked to better than perfection; I was just hungry so I wasn't expecting anything other than to be fed. My chocolate desert was also a work of art. The restaurant was empty, which is a shame. I'm not a fan of the decor but who cares when the quality of food served is so good. It will get a Michelin star (or more) and then be packed so go there now. The chef is a culinary star. I will go back when I am next in Frankfurt. Bravo!
