Winchell's Donut House

Incredible donuts! The woman who usually runs the shop is incredibly dedicated to providing excellent customer service. Everything—donuts, sandwiches, drinks, and coffees—exceeds expectations! It’s gourmet food at prices that won’t break the bank, I promise!

The yellow cake was extremely thin and very tough. The other location on Magnolia and Ball is much better!

I had a disappointing experience at this restaurant. I went in for a breakfast sandwich, and the staff was very rude. One employee was joking around in Spanish with another worker instead of attending to customers. This happened on Sunday morning, 3/12/23. I'm not sure if the ownership has changed or if there's new management, but the service was terrible.

Oh man. I've not been to a Winchell's since I was a kiddo, for real. They used to be everywhere but now are rare with all these other gourmet fancy pants donut shops cropping up. I happened to be leaving donuttery and spotted this winchell's on the way home and of course I *needed* to stop for *more* donuts. For nostalgia, you see. It was like 930p so not many folks and thank goodness because this one's a small spot. I'm a jelly donut nerd and just got a raspberry jelly filled donut from Donuttery so I said wth, ima get a raspberry filled donut here too. Just like when I was a kiddo. It'll be great, just like I remember it. Well, no. Either I misremembered, or this place just doesn't understand what a good, decent, satisfying jelly filled donut should be like. Check out the pic and have a think about what's wrong with the picture. One jelly donut's from winchell's and the other is from donuttery, side by side. On top of this atrocity, the dough was dry, a bit cakey, and tasted as though they used frozen dough/batter/yeasty whatever. The glaze tasted stale too. Bleh. Same went for the glazed raised donut I got too. Core memories overwritten. The jalapeño cheese croissant was also made with highly processed cheese and not enough jalapeños. The croissant was flaky but super thick and tough and kinda sweet. Not my cup o'tea but not mad about this one since it was something I just wanted to try on a lark. Now, don't go assuming this means donuttery stole my heart. They didn't.
