According to its website, the origin of the restaurant is legendary: Reata, Spanish for rope , is named for the majestic ranch in the 1950 's epic movie Giant, starring James Dean, Rock Hudson and Elizabeth Taylor. Based upon the famous novel by Edna Ferber, this legendary movie uniquely symbolizes the strength, spirit and excitement of the legendary days of the wide open west. Simply put, the first Reata Restaurant started when a hungry west Texas rancher had a hankerin ' for some really great food. Al Micallef, owner of the CF Ranch, took his hunger into his own hands and partnered with Fort Worth businessman Mike Evans in 1995 and opened the first Reata Restaurant in Alpine, Texas. From Alpine grew the nationally renowned original Fort Worth location survivor of one of the most destructive tornadoes in U.S. history. Our crowning glory, Reata at Sundance, opened in the heart of downtown Fort Worth in May 2002. It 's been our distinct pleasure serving the fine folks of Alpine and Fort Worth over the past two decades and we look forward to many more great years to come! The service is done with excellence by servers with many years of experience. Any visit here will be a highlight to your dining experience. Visit and enjoy!
We dined here for the first time before a concert at Dickie's arena and thought it was one of the very best meals we have ever had. The hospitality was on point from the moment we arrived. The restaurant is cozy and inviting. Because we knew we were going to indulge in dessert, we didn't order starters, but fully enjoyed the complimentary basket of fresh-baked muffins and bread. I decided on the carne asada with enchiladas for dinner and my husband couldn't resist ordering the chicken fried steak. Bring your appetite, because the portion sizes are huge! The food is absolutely delicious! Ordering from the dessert tray wasn't easy because everything looked amazing and our server's descriptions made our mouth's water. I ordered the West Texas pecan pie and my husband had the banana pudding. Both were out of this world! Definitely save room for dessert. You won't be disappointed!
This place is pretty neat. Embedded deep into downtown Ft.Worth, this is definitely a place to try. The service is fantastic, I don't think it gets much better. The ambiance is great, and makes the experience that much better. Lastly the food, the only reason it is not a 5 star review is because my steak was average. But for almost $40 I'd expect a bit more flavor and experience when preparing steak. I don't know, maybe it picky! I'll definitely be back though!
Have eaten at Reata twice and had the best experience each time! First was to celebrate a birthday and I had my baby with us, they were so friendly and accommodating, and brought a birthday dessert for my mom. Second time was to celebrate my anniversary and our server Alex was excellent. Very attentive, provided great recommendations, and had everyone sign a card for us. Waters were refilled promptly and we were checked on often. Food and drinks were delicious tried the bacon wrapped shrimp, carne asada, filet special and salmon another time. The dessert tacos are a must. Would highly recccimend for a special occasion!
Food was outstanding. We started with the tamales app and the calf fries yep, nuts). Both were delicious. I had the Carne Asada. Was sooo good. Huge portion. Once the get there new location I will return.
