Delicious food in a lovely setting with excellent service.
Check your bill carefully before you leave—the upselling and unexpected charges started immediately at our table of three. We’re winos, so we asked the sommelier about a wine we were considering. He suggested a different one that was almost double the price. When we told him we didn’t want to pay that much, he conceded that our original one was an excellent choice. On to the food. I ordered the filet mignonette a la Oscar. My brother ordered the bigger version, with more lobster, about the most expensive item on the menu—$110+. He jokingly said, “Hey, how come my sister gets bearnaise sauce and asparagus and I get nothing with my mine? Do you think the chef could throw in some sauce and asparagus?” The waitress smiled and said she’d see. As a starter, my brother ordered scallops—the only one to order an appetizer. When it came, he commented that he wasn’t expecting so many. After he finished, we waited and waited for our main courses. They finally came and were delicious—and the waitress did include bearnaise and asparagus with his order. When our bill came, we noticed that: 1) He’d been charged for the sauce and asparagus, even though the waitress never came back and said, “We can do that, but we’ll have to charge you for each addition.” In which case he would’ve said no thanks. 2) He was charged $44 for an entree portion of scallops, instead of $20 for the starter portion. What server doesn’t clarify, “ Did you want an appetizer or entree size?” And why would she think someone would want two entrees, again without confirming? We asked her and the sommelier/host to remove the extra charges and correct the scallops to a starter price. The bill kept coming back with the full scallop price of $44. This happened 4 times: the original bill and three non-revisions. They just couldn’t get it right. And instead of being apologetic, they started with the attitude. The host actually said I was being mean. Guess they prefer guests who don’t call them on their overcharges.
Læs mereQuite an exquisite dining experience. Excellent food and top notch service.
Our meal here last year was disappointing, but this time the food was consistently outstanding. The bread at the table was wonderfully warm and satisfying. My partner ordered the scallops and Caesar salad, while I had the bone-in NY strip and wedge salad. All four dishes were excellently prepared, and the service was impeccable. I'm very glad we decided to give Eddie V's another chance, as it offers both fantastic steak and seafood options. A special thanks to Alev Ersoy, the Managing Partner, for encouraging us to try again.
