The Speech House - Forest of Dean

This restaurant is charming no matter the time of year. The coffee and scones are delicious, and the table service is excellent. We highly recommend it. Plus, they welcome dogs, which is a bonus for us.

My husband went to the bar to order food and drinks, but after waiting for 25 minutes, he decided to leave. The woman behind the bar was incompetent and couldn't get the order right for the customers ahead of us. She couldn't even remember a simple order. I'm sorry to say that while Speech House is a beautiful venue, they really need to improve their staff. It was not very busy when we were there, but it will be our first and last visit.

After looking up the closest EV charger, we came across this hidden treasure! Charging was a breeze with no need for an app, just tap and go. We treated ourselves to a delicious morning coffee cake in the sunny orangery. The restaurant is dog-friendly and the surroundings are absolutely beautiful. This has been the best charging stop we've ever come across!

We had a very pleasant evening in the Verders restaurant for my Mum’s birthday. The hotel and the room could benefit with some updating that is more updating sympathetic to it’s historical past, (or even some white linen table cloths could improve it), but the food was very good. Delicious and interesting. Our waitress was efficient, professional and friendly.

Had a superb cream tea at the Speech House this afternoon. The service was excellent, and the presentation of the tea (in a fine china pot and with extra hot water) and scones was perfect. The scones were absolutely delicious. The dining area, overlooking the garden, was very pleasant and cooled by the open windows welcome on a hot day. All in all, a very pleasant visit that exceeded our expectations.
