Bidrage med feedbackSix of us dined here recently and, on the whole, had an enjoyable night. All of us agreed the food was delicious - two ordered the seafood spaghetti, two of us the carbonara, there was a spaghetti ragout and a ravioli (can't remember which sauce they ordered). The ones who ordered the seafood and the one's who ordered the ragout and the ravioli raved about them - big thumbs up! The flavour of the carbonara could not be faulted- delicious. One dish was given a big seal of approval but sadly mine arrived barely warm. I should have returned it but was a tad hungry so gobbled it down quickly. By the way,the servings I must say, are very generous. We knew this restaurant specialises in a huge range of beers, but were disappointed at the tiny wine list, with a very limited range and a huge mark up. Our group ordered a bottle of red but when it arrived was last year's vintage - not the three year old one on the wine list. "Oh it's still the same price ", said the waitress who obviously has a very limited wine knowledge! It was quietly pointed out that it was rather expensive for a very young wine, but we agreed to purchase it anyway. The waitress must have mentioned it to the boss/owner, because when we went to settle our bill he apologised, agreed that they needed to look at their wine list
I've been to fox in the corn and few times. It a very simple menu, but everything I've had there is hearty and delicious. My personal favourites are the creamy pesto or the creamy carbonara, my bf loves the beef ragu! There is also an extensive list of beers to try as well!
Great spinach and ricotta ravioli but not very much and amazing fresh tomato sauce! The spaghetti and salmon was OUTSTANDING!!!!!!! I would recommend Fox in the Corn for anyone. 300 beers to choose from, with about 7 on tap.
I ate here 06th February 2017.We ordered a pasta each, a diet coke each and a some bread (you pay extra for a piece of bread). Our past and drink arrived, but the bread never did. After eating our meals, we waited for someone to return to see if we wanted dessert - we'd looked at the menu earlier and we both saw something we liked. Eventually I walked up to the counter and grabbed a menu and said to the two staff standing there doing nothing that we will to order dessert. I took the menus back to our table, we double-checked what we wanted to order and waited. After 10 minutes, we decided to leave. As we were leaving I told the cashier that we didn't get our bread. He said "but I take it you did get your pasta and drink?". It felt somewhat condescending. He did ask if we wanted him to give us some bread to take home. This was a Monday evening. The place would have been 25% - 30% full and there was plenty of staff not looking particularly busy. Not sure we'll return. And not great for the owners if their staff aren't attentive to customers who have told them "we want to order more food", ie we want to spend more money in your restaurant. The pasta was very good. Seating uncomfortable.
Surprise sixtieth birthday party last night at the Fox In The Corn which turned out to be a very good night. Every one enjoyed there pasta dishes and also the pizzas.Wife and I shared a small margarita for starters, she had pesto with spaghetti I had the carbonara. I very very rarely have pasta when out to dinner as I am always disappointed as I cook better at home. Anyway both dishes were very good. The pasta itself was very good quality. The pizza also was great with quality fresh dough (you can tell) lovely crunch and texture. Other members of our group had the Beef Raghu with ravioli lovely rich sauce. The salads were fresh with a tangy dressing. The huge range of quality beers, local and international, either on tap or bottle created some confusion for choice a nice problem to solve through by trying the tasting paddle they offer. However the wine list requires some attention e.g, no Sav Blanc for the ladies either by the glass or bottle was possible and the red wines by the glass and range on offer is very mediocre. The only white wine by the glass available was a Chenin Blanc; a little too fruity for any dish on the menu. Being classified as an 'Italian Restaurant' a good variety of either light to medium bodied or full bodied Australian wines or even Italian would up the appeal of the the menu and the dinning experience. If not this then recommending beers that match dishes would be convenient and add to the kudos of the place. The room is pretty spartan with cluncky looking pine booths tables and chairs and customer comfort issue with the setting sun and the blinds/window set up. Nevertheless there's a nice buzzy vibe in the place - come and try yourself, I'll be back soon.TheosTruthFoodie - The Truth the Whole Truth and Nothing but the Truth.
