Fries are good, burgers are definitely better than your average fast food restaurants. Had better burgers in pubs and other places. Not a bad choice...if you're looking for something other than Asian food in the area.
It appears that this restaurant has evolved since its inception. The burgers seem to have declined in quality compared to before, and the overall atmosphere has also shifted. It seems like there is less attention to maintaining the interior. I will look for another dining option the next time I am in Footscray.
The burgers at 8Bit are delicious, but the price of $16+ for an Altered Beast burger is a bit high. This is where 8Bit falls short in terms of value for the portion size. A well-made, fresh Hungry Jacks Whopper burger can sometimes be just as good as a Golden Axe burger for half the price. You can even find a burger at a pub that comes with chips and salad for less money and comparable quality. The "beer battered fries" are essentially just wedges in disguise.
I had a fantastic experience at this restaurant. The burgers were delicious and not overly greasy, with a wide variety to choose from. The loaded fries with vegetable toppings were excellent, and the milkshakes were incredibly tasty. I highly recommend dining here!
8bit is without a doubt one of Melbourne's most hyped burger in this era of the burger trend here. The restaurant has a really cool retro video game theme. Our favourite item here is the classic 8bit with cheese the beef patty that sits...in between the other fresh ingredients is always tender and juicy. The beer battered fries are always crispy and complement the burgers perfectly. However, their food has changed slightly as compared to a few years ago. The food is still good, but we found that it wasn't as good as it was before. With that said, it's still one of the better burger places around and will always be the local's favourite
