Osteria Del Teatro - FOLIGNO

I went to this restaurant for the second time. My opinion is that Osteria del Teatro is a rare find, a well-hidden secret and you should not miss it if you are travelling in Umbria and looking for a good food. Don't worry about the menu. The chef will take care of you, choose the wine and the courses. Everything we had was incredibly good.

Friends who live in Foligno took us here during the holidays. They are regulars and we can see why. We had the place to ourselves (they opened for us I believe) and we had no menu. The food just kept coming. It was fresh and flavorful. The owner, his wife and I believe, daughter, went out of their way to make us feel like we were a guest in their home. The price was extremely reasonable. Overall we had an excellent meal and we will be sure to return again the next time we are in Foligno. A must if you are in the area.

After reading the other english reviews, I couldn't believe any restaurant could be this good... and to be honest it is not. But they do serve well cooked, interesting food and the owners are charming and very hospitable. The prices are good value and I do recommend this restaurant. If you go expecting good honest food and not the best food in Italy! I am sure you won't be disappointed.

La taverna si affaccia su un piccolo cottage nel centro storico di Foligno. Il personale era molto gentile e sorridente, ci siamo sentiti come a casa. Abbiamo preso un antipasto per dividere (formare, salumi, fagioli e una miscela di verdure), due primi piatti (amatriciana e tagliatelle con verdure, guancia e pecorino), una bottiglia di vino bianco della casa, un'acqua e due caffè per un totale di Euro. Le porzioni dei primi piatti erano davvero generose, un po' come quando si va a casa della nonna. Se siete alla ricerca di una cena tranquilla, semplice e ricca questo ristorante lo consiglio vivamente.
