You will not find better HOME MADE food with attention to detail in every aspect! Home made bread to DIE FOR prawns the best I ever had (including flax and other seafood hot beds), pasta and sauce unparrelled everywhere. The only place that even compares is Italy itself. So if you don't plan a trip to Italia in the near future, do yourself a favor and try the El Capitan. I'm a 40-year-old client and I had a bad meal for NIE. This alone speaks for itself!!
The best Italian food. Who is this Rajesh? They don't serve Indian food, sooo.... Somehow, maybe he caught her in a day with a new waitress. Let's get the facts. This Italian jewel has been in the same family for over 50 years. The chefs and staff are highly qualified and offer the best Italian food you can find anywhere in this country. I'm from S. E. Wisconsin and make it a point to eat here when I'm in the area. The Iron Mtn area actually has some of the best Italian cuisine, with the El Cap is the hidden gem (if you are not a local, then you already know). Maybe the outside could use a facelift, but if you go to eat for absolutely excellent Italian cuisine, this is the ultimate place. You get what you pay and then some. Try it, you will love it.
Love it!! El Cap has been in business for a few years and impresses me and friends I brought there. Always great food and drinks. Very friendly and great waiter. In any case remember a culinary experience. I will continue to be a regular customer.
By Far My Favorite. I can't believe there is a negative review about the food or staff on here, but I guess some people are hard to please. This restaurant is by far my favorite. The pepper steak is to die for and tied for my favorite is the spinach Linguine with Spicy garlic sauce. I love to decor. It feels like Italy to me. The waitresses are always friendly and educated. It does get pretty busy but everything always seems to move along as expected and the staff is very accommodating. The prices are a little higher than others in the area but well worth the extra few dollars if you ask me. This is my restaurant of choice in the area.
A Feast. We went to El Capitan (9/7/2011 we arrived at 5:00pm. Restaurant looks a little shabby as you enter. We were the first to arrive, although the patrons picked up considerably as the evening progressed. The tables were all set, linen napkins including a huge carafe of iced water on each table. Waitress smart and friendly, informed us of the specials and answered menu questions. I ordered the chicken parmesean, my eating partner had the scallops mornay (sp? .The entrees all come with salad and bread. All salad dressings appear to be homemade. I was surprised that they had no lasagne (which is always my choice when I visit a new Italian restaurant . My chicken parm was nicely cooked, juicy and not too heavy on the breading, the sauce was tasty. The scallops appear to have been scrumptious as my partner almost eat the plate! The pasta was exceptional. I do not think I have had such thin fettucine ever. Menu choices excellent with nightly specials. I thought the prices were a little high but other than that the meal was very good and the waitress was attentive. Large portions so expect to have a doggy bag to go. This is a well established reastaurant that needs a facelift to attract younger eaters. It appears to have been filled with regulars. All in all, a good dinner with good food.
