Bidrage med feedbackDecent duck, quite oily though. Soup wasn't as fragrant as expected. Service was fast considering how busy it was.
Popular then and still popular now. The duck meat is savoury and juicy, the skin is crispy and fatty. Obligatory destination to bring hungry tourist/family/friends. They will be sure to enjoy Old Kingdom's signature peking duck. I will recommend adding extra noodle to the bean sprout and maybe a side of simple vegetable dish. The soup is full of flavour and I love it specially during cold weather.
Be warned they charge for extra cucumber and onion slices if you pack more than 1 into a pancake. Soup was quite salty. Personally I prefer Simon's in Box Hill. Deep fried tofu was melt in your mouth.
Duck 3 ways for $55 between two. Best in Melbourne. Don't get anything else.
I am a big fan of Peking duck and Old Kingdom is my favourite for this meal. Duck skin is lovely and crisp with the staff carving nice big slices at the table... Not of this wafer thin shenanigans. You came for duck, you are going to get it! Second course can be duck with bean sprouts or noodles... Noodles is more filling of course but I tend to go for the bean sprouts. Soup is always a nice note to finish on. Don't forget to check out the menu they have some nice options there as well. I love their pork ribs. This isn't a 3 hat Michelin restaurant. It's down and tasty duck and it's been like this as long as I've known when I first discovered Old Kingdom back in 2000. Highly recommended and I always enjoy bringing my friends here.
