Miss Katies Crab Shack - Fitzroy

My partner and I came here on impulse looking for a fun dinner out and it did not disappoint! The food was delicious, get the chilli clams and the old bay biscuits and dip the biscuits in the chilli clam sauce, you will not regret it.

IF you're under it's not Winter you're not sitting in the windiest part of the outdoor courtyard, I suppose it's OK. Just. But if you're over it *is* Winter and the wind is blowing like a gale up your end (sic) with a heater on the other side of the courtyard, well...it's unpleasant. We thought we'd be dining inside. No such luck. Anyway...we ordered crab cake (crumbed, fried, salty), chowder (diced spuds fought the seafood for real estate in the bowl), spanner crab (we fought the crab for a tiny amount of meat), and KFC (truly with waffles maple syrup, a tempura-like coating deep fried so the chook was slightly underdone (not badly, but pink). Standout was the Tour Travers rosà from a limited wine list and fries crunchy, hot, soft inside. Now the bad news. Decor was dreadful on the cheap: shack it certainly was. pages of the Herald-Sun paper was the tablecloth, the tables chairs were beach-house wood slat furniture, with a wobbly table (which got fixed, thanks to staff), the plates were enamel dishes which were old chipped sadly not enough serviettes for crab combat, even with a bib (attractive The courtyard looked drab not fun as it should have been. Staff were friendly attentive (tho we're not all *guys* all the time! so they earned their that night. Summary: not cheap, not comfortable not clever. For I thought we didn't get value or ambiance. It was more a cafà than restaurant despite the name, the quality of venue food should have been better. Nice concept, below par execution.

We had a great night out with friends for a special birthday. A great option if you love crab!

The staff was awesome, the food was awesome and the drinks were awesome. We came here for my girlfriends birthday and we will definately be back

Would not revisit extremely overpriced and bland food. Really poor hospitality service everything ordered through app, no connection at all.
