Not what you expect in a dairy rich area and surely it would not hurt to mention is UHT milk Ok ?when i asked if it was UHT ( one sip reveals) the lady serving then said " so do you want your money back, " not sure this is the best way this could have been handled. I left with the coffee in hand however as after 600 kms riding around gippsland i needed the hit more than the $4.I found this to be a deceptive approach and I am sure the Shopkeeper/ serving person will have a different view however the damage was done. maybe should call the cafe "The Boxed Cow" instead
It was one of those rainy Victorian summer days when soup is the only thing one eats for lunch. Best chicken soup ever. Just as well. There were lots of other treats which were tempting...
My six-year-old was excited to see this cafe from across the street, as it appeared to be a magical place for children with its cow toys, ornaments, and children's books on display. However, when my daughter started reading one of the books, the owner came and took them away as they were only for decoration. When I asked the waitress for another book for my upset daughter, they only had one dull book available. There were no other books in the cafe that children could read, and overall, there was nothing for children to enjoy here. The service and food were also disappointing.
I rode the southern rail trail and stopped at this restaurant twice, once in each direction. On Saturday, I had coffee and received pleasant service. I loved seeing the cows. On the way back, we stopped for coffee and scones. It was very busy, but we were informed there would be a wait. I was happy to relax and enjoy the cows in the great atmosphere. The scones were delicious. I think there is still space for more cows at this restaurant.
Popped into the flying cow this morning for a coffee and a bite to eat.. we waited 5 minutes at the front counter before anyone even acknowledged us (despite the owner of the cafe standing right in front of us). We then proceeded to make our order once the waitress arrived and mid way through ordering the owner demanded the waitress 'take this chia latte' to table 1 and then come back and serve these people' like wow, thanks!!Then upon our second attempt of ordering our coffee the owner then rudely interrupts again and says 'look we'll make the coffees as quick as we can, you're probably looking at a 10 minute wait though' By this stage we were just over the service here and said 'don't worry about it' and left!Quirky little shop, just needs better customer service and manners. The waitress herself was polite however
