I had dinner on New Year's Eve with a wine pairing during my first visit to Antigua. I was told that Sheer Rock is the best spot and is always fully booked. I was required to pay the full amount in advance to secure my reservation, which felt a bit off. The atmosphere was lacking, and the place was nearly empty during dinner. There were only about 12 customers for the midnight countdown, and I found it to be really overpriced with food that didn't live up to expectations.

--- Poorly signed, with a long walk from the parking lot, which was somewhat offset by the scenery. The security guard was unwelcoming. There were no covered parking spaces available, and the bathroom was in a terrible state, complete with a clogged toilet. I asked for assistance in finding someone and was told, "she's down there," with no one offering to guide me. The young waitress appeared disinterested, seemingly preoccupied with more important matters. We sat at our table for about ten minutes, and aside from being offered water, we received no further attention. The waiter stood about fifteen feet away, doing nothing the entire time. The menu failed to spark our interest; I enjoy tapas, but they seemed unsure of how many plates to serve or the portion sizes. The evening menu looked much more enticing. When I inquired about the menu items, the waitress showed little interest in explaining. Instead, she seemed focused on our bill of 3.25 when the kitchen was set to close at 4 PM, and we had a reservation for 3 PM. Unfortunately, we left before being able to experience “the philosophy on a plate,” so I cannot comment on the food. On a positive note, the presentation looked appealing, but the staff definitely needs significant training if they wish to promote themselves as the best restaurant on the island.

Such a wonderful experience at Sheer rocks. Breathtaking views and a great vibe overall. Friendly waitstaff, great food. Would recommend!
