Illawong Hotel - EVANS HEAD

The food was excellent, the staff were friendly and efficient, and the atmosphere was great. There was nothing not to love. We went for lunch on Saturday and ordered the fish and chips, the chicken burger, and a few drinks. We left as very happy customers. Well done to the person responsible for creating such a friendly atmosphere.

The food at this restaurant is top-notch, and the staff is wonderful. I'm not usually a fan of sandwiches, but I will always make sure to stop in for a drink and a meal whenever I'm passing through Evans Head.

I visited The Wink last Friday night and was pleasantly surprised when they upgraded me to a double room at no extra cost. The room was spotlessly clean, well-organized, and stocked with plenty of blankets and towels. They were also very accommodating with my request for a late checkout. Overall, I had a great experience with their pub accommodation. Thank you and I will definitely be back.

We went to dinner in the hotel and were very impressed. beautiful open fire and the $10 fish basket was very nice. the service was fast and friendly I was very happy and impressed.

There aren't many places to eat in Evans Head so having eaten at, and enjoyed, our meal at the Chinese Restaurant in the main street, we thought we would give the hotel a try. Well, when you order from the menu, you put your faith...in the chef to prepare and deliver a tasty meal. How disappointed were we. We had the Mushroom soup which was like thin gravy in a bowl with large chunks of mushroom on top. The taste was not pleasant and nor was the consistency. We also had the Nachos (or whatever they called them) which were so dry. They were topped with pulled pork and cheese and a large lump of avocado. The meal when delivered was burnt around the edges of the dish, didn't look appetizing and was not pleasant to eat. They may deliver large servings but if the food is not edible, then it wouldn't matter what size the serving was. A very disappointing evening.
