Bidrage med feedbackPoor seating just outside celler door, waiting amongst the hoards queing up for a table/taste. Staff clearly overwhelmed by volume of guests. Gorgonzola walnut salad a dissapointment of iceberg lettuce with a smidgen of hard searched for flavour.A request to change tables was met with exasperation.Watching guests wait to be served, whilst waiting interminabley for our mains. And no coffee is served. At least the wines are very good.Maybe Di Lusso should just stick to what they know, instead of punching above their weight.
6 km out of Mudgee, this place is an oasis, serving excellent Italian style wines and absolutely superb Italian cuisine. We had the Arancini as a starter, and no word of a lie, they were equivalent to the way my grandmother made them. The main course lived up to the expectations created by the entree. Even though extremely busy, the staff were very attentive. The restaurant and grounds were meticulous. We sat at a table, in the Winters sun, and it was absolutely lovely.I would strongly recommend that you book, as the restaurant started to fill at 11:30am. One of jewels, in Mudgee's crown.
Our experience here would've been better if, like many wineries, they get the service right at the cellar door. I was keen on trying many of their wines due to the Italian origins, and their range was very interesting and enjoyable, but it would be great if we could get more info out of the cellar door staff member? Show some passion in your job & interest in us and what you are giving us to try.A redeeming factor was the very nice pizzas (albeit over priced), and the lovely young man making them who was very happy to chat and explain the intricacies of the wood oven to our young sons...
We arrived without a reservation to this winery. Thankfully, they found a table for us. The food was outstanding, and my four-year old finished a whole pizza on his own. We shared a wood -fired Pizza Di Pollo and the Lamb Ragout. The Pizza Di Pollo was outstanding, in the thin and crispy variety, with all the ingredients blending perfectly. The Lamb Ragout was the standout dish in our weekend away. Served with fantastic gnocchi, the lamb was tender and had all the right flavours and punch that a ragout should have. It is very well complimented with a glass of Sangiovese. We will be back!
You must try the lamb Ragu with a glass of red if you go there. OMG! I've died and gone to heaven. Their olives are really nice too...not salty like at a lot of places. Pizza was great. True wood fire pizza like how it should be. My 4 yo son normally can't eat the whole pizza..but he devoured the whole Margherita pizza.
