Veritas - Ettlingen

Had a business dinner here as part of a large group and was only allowed to preordered feeds from extremely limited menu as result. the employees refused to serve anything else from a la carte menu (as extra for couples). I found ridiculous when they had more money if they did. eating was okay, but service very slow and there was a pretty big speech barrier. asked for glass champagne and served glass white wine with some things swimming in it. the personal could also be more friendly. it does not take much effort to smile or at least not try to go away while someone speaks with them would not return.

I place this restaurant somewhere in the 3.5-4.0 points area. eating was really nice with a large selection of meat, fish, seafood and vegetarian, prepared for high quality. the service was good. there are plenty of free parking. be ready to order three courses to be satisfied and around 60€ for that, not including drinks. it makes this restaurant a little overpriced (and maybe that was just because we were at the boxing day.)

I had great hopes on this restaurant, but unfortunately they were not fulfilled. at first the place itself. the restaurant is beautifully decorated, but the main room has a lot reverb, so it is very difficult to have conversations. the outside seats are beautiful, but...basic we decided to sit outside, at the floor, we didn't really feel the waiters often showed up enough. we had a round of drinks that were with water, small and pricy. no good combination. after that we ordered starters and main courses. the appetizers were good, but not exceptional. same was for the main dishes: quality seemed good, but cooking was missing behind. both steaks that we ordered were rare and medium appeared completely boiled. presentation was good, so the champagne senfsuppet. However, I am not sure whether 25 euro per participant is justified. everything was missing that little bit and not salt / pfeffer on the table helped. a full hour between the starters and the main courses. we mentioned that our drinks were watered down, and the waiter apologized and promised a free round stronger that never happened. overall, this place has the potential to become a great restaurant, but at the moment there is still something to achieve that.

Came here with colleagues and enjoyed a great dinner. good wine selection and entree selection. comes back.

Spent a couple of hours here with colleagues and had a great time. Ordered broiled Durade fish with a cream sauce and rice. Others had Zander and steak. All looked delicious. Service was the usual, German style. Not super friendly, but reasonably efficient. The building...is in one of the former barracks if the old US base. Would go back with family.
