North Ridge Dairy Freez - Essex

Another local place that gets taken for granted. Worth the stop when driving around Essex County. You can pull up in your car and eat in your car, or walk around back to a welcoming eating area. Dairy Freez has the old style '50s diner appeal to it almost. The staff are very friendly and welcoming. A stop here is a must!

Love the vintage ice cream era this place has kept up. It's a drive to the county. People drive from all over for a soft dipped cone or a banana split sundae or burger and fries. There's a beautiful yard to enjoy your ice cream and washrooms. Service is great. But be patient, this place is a huge attraction in Cottam.

Not only is this place a piece of county living the staff as well as the owners take great care of their clients. The food is great!! The wait can sometimes be long but it's only due to how great this place truly is.

Dairy Freeze is in their 62nd season. Three generations of our family have gone to this place. While lines can be long, orders are filled fast. If you want food at a busy time, call ahead and place your order to reduce your wait. At the start of each season, they give out a limited number of menus for your fridge with a magnet and pen. Old fountain favourites such as malt milkshakes, Boston Coolers and floats. The food here is great for the type it is: burgers, hot dogs, mozza sticks, chicken burgers and so on. The dipping sauce sizes are generous and you can have more than one type. The mozza sticks are full of cheese and not very greasy. There are different items on the menu, such as chicken fries. The soft ice cream is cool and refreshing. Want chocolate, nuts, or crumble on your cone? No problem, the latter is always artfully done. Over the years extra parking, washrooms and extra tables have been added. How good is this place? Every year I give each of my students a menu and gift certificate for ice cream with their families that Arlene happily assists me with, along with a gift certificate for my assistant who loves their Boston coolers. And when our son is home from Alberta, the Freeze is always on the to do list. Start a new tradition with your family and head on out to the Freeze.

I went for a late snack and ice cream... I'm never disappointed with my visits.... The food is good, delivered fast and I like the picnic atmosphere.
