Umia - Essaouira

The first touch of this beautiful place is the wonderful smell that welcomes you and makes you feel like in heaven! The style of this restaurant is really special, the beauty is in the details, even the lighting and music are good which is rare. It was the pleasure to spend our evening there with the wonderful wine and dishes. Also we met the owners of the restaurant and they are the soul of Umia, so intelligent and welcoming as well. Thank you for this cozy experience and high level service in Essaouira, we will definitely visit you soon again!

You pay for the ambience. The portions are ridiculously small. 4 tasty gnocchi for 120 MAD, 280 MAD for a bottle of wine etc. It's a nice break from local fare but definitely not worth the price and the haughty attitude.

Umia is genuinely a destination restaurant in Morocco. The food is exceptional delivering a modern twist on wonderful, locally sourced, ingredients. The ambience is chilled but warm and welcoming. We were a group of 11 but treated as attentively as a table for two. The host and team are friendly and efficient. Such an incredible and memorable experience that we look forward to repeating. 5 stars; 10 stars just….wow!

If you looking for something a more up market and happy to pay European prices for a clay experience be submerged amongst a beautiful interior design, with fantastic food and wine, wonderful service and friendly staff, then here’s your place.

Great food and excellent service. Highlights crab roll, tuna and the chocolate mousse. Local wines also well selected.
