Sushi Yama - Escondido

Go there often. Whether it's for my monthly lunch date with a girlfriend or just a fun meal with my family. I always enjoy it. But I have to say, if yesterday was my first visit I would never in a million years recommend anyone go here. Ordered miss soup and was charged for it...never got it! The rolls were so losely rolled that either they my son had to use his hands to eat them and I had to literally cut mine in half to be able to eat them without them falling apart. There was so much eel sauce on my crunchy roll that it was all I could taste. Over all, again if yesterday was my first time visiting, I would never visit or recommend!!!! Luckily I have been here several times so I will be back. Hopefully next time they won't fall on their faces again.

I have been here a few times. I usually order a philly roll and an unagi roll, with a pot of green tea. The philly has more salmon than any I've received at comparable sushi joints. The unagi is delicious, but it's full of eel, so that goes without saying. And both are on the half off menu. Their rice has been prepared properly each time I've been here, which is a huge plus for me as I don't use chopsticks, and hate leaving with sticky hands. The service may be somewhat lacking, but not so much that it detracts from the experience. I will be coming back here often.

As you will see in the other reviews these guys get it. Being half Japanese, you might say I have expectations. I do. I've been here 5 times and my family chooses SuYama (our family slang) as default. Quality is impressive considering how fast it is prepared. Presentation is superb and of-course taste is on par with high end bars. Highly recommend.

Seriously the BEST sushi and price ever! My favorite place! We eat there once a week! I have tried other places and ALWAYS regret it, no where compares! Sushi place for life!

Always great customer service and food. All dishes are well prepared in appearance and good size portions.
