La Tapatia Restaurant - Escondido

What a fabulous find!!! My husband and I travel from Phoenix a few times a year to visit family. We stopped in for a couple drinks and food. We were so impressed from the minute we were greated at the door. Everyone was so gracious and welcoming. It felt as though we had been coming for years. We haven't, but it is from now on a neccessary stop.

Authentic restaurant in the old town. we thought eating was great and the margaritas was even better. the service was a little slow, but the rest made it.

I do NOT recommend this restaurant. We were seated and did not have a waitress or anyone come to us we were there for 20 minutes. I asked who I thought was the host if we could get some help and she let me know she was the Owner and gave me some excuses. She told me we would be served as we were seated. We decided to leave saw the couple that was sat AFTER us already had their drinks and food. BAD service! I will never go here again!

Long time establishment, but has never been very good. They are behind the times, and barely hanging on. There are much better Mexican food restaurants in the area that are far superior.Just not very good.
