Bidrage med feedbackVisited Shannigans gastropub today. Ordered chicken curry and vegetarian curry. The vegetarian curry consisted of diced potatoes, onion and 1 piece of pepper, the rice wasn’t basmati but wild! I ate one mouthful only it tasted sour and salty inedible. Service poor waited ages for order to be taken and no one checked to see if food was ok. Prices extortionate €7.20 for a rock shandy! Complained about food but still had to pay for it. WILL NOT BE BACK.
Just going to say this place is not the place to go if you have kids. I haven 't left reviews in a long time but I had been here when it opened and thought the food was nice, finally a nice gastro pub. Just felt the need to comment to warn unwitting guests. This place does not offer what you would expect from a gastro pub IE big portions and a good price. We also waited ages to be served and the food too an uncomfortably long time to come even though it wasn 't busy and it was two starters and a kids meal. Food was hugely overpriced, fish platter was not fresh fish unseasoned and tiny portion for €20. There were three rubbery prawns, a small lettuce leave of prawn salsa, two pieces of fish neither had any flavour, smoked salmon I left it because it tasted horrible and a fish pate I also left, what were you meant to eat it with ? There wasn 't even a breadstick or even a slice of bread bread with it. Majority of the plate was a bush of salad. Oh I forgot the potato salad 3 small tasteless potatoes. Worst fish platter I have had, there wasn 't one saving grace on the plate. Very pretentious menu for Sunday lunch with nothing you 'd really like to eat on a sunny day. I think there should be sandwiches, pasta dishes and light bites on offer, maybe the main menu does this. Pity I won 't be returning to check. My husband had wings and there were very bland and wet. Kids meal was a margarita pizza that was 8.50 but 50 cent extra for the cheese. Really? Left starving and unsatisfied and also 45 euro lighter. Waste of hard earned money.
Arrived to a busy bar but there was still a table for my friend and I right away. I ordered the burger as it had been a while since I had eaten a burger not from a takne away and my mate ordered the lamb shank for our main courses. My burger was honestly the nicest burger I've had in recent memory. The ingredients tasted fresh and delicious. The only downside to my meal was the fries as they needed 2 to 3 more minutes in the fryer as the centre of the chips were hard. But the burger was so good I can forgive it. My mate said his lamb shank was delicious and every accompanyment complimented everything esle on the plate. We both had dessert and again it was a knockout my cheesecake was thee perfect portion size and I loved the granola style topping and the fantastic compote of berries that came with it. My friend had the chocolate fondant and he loved it. Great job.
We've been here since 7.05pm. it's 8.04....no hint of food. We never received the children's menu that we were offered as we were seated. I see a man eating his diner, although he came in about 20 mins ago. We'll come here Never again!!!! I forgot the reason we haven't been in 3 years is because of the extraordinary wait time....
My wife and I went for lunch at Shannigans gastro pub on Saturday 7th May 2022. When we arrived we we were told to sit wherever we wanted and that somebody would take our order. We were left waiting for 20 minutes and had to go to the bar and ask somebody to come to our table to take our order. I ordered the lamb shank and my wife ordered the Thai massaman curry with monk fish and prawns. When our food was served my lamb shank dish including potatoes and vegetables was not hot however my wife's curry was delicious. Overall I was disappointed with the service and the fact that my lunch was cold when served. Service needs to improve and food should be served hot.
